The evening of the day before my scheduled arrival the hotel called and said they were overbooked because a large group was extending their stay and so they would not have my reserved room for me for the first night of a two night stay. I chose this hotel for its downtown location and supposedly relaxing luxury atmosphere. The hotel's general manager offered only to put me at a substandard Holiday Inn in Yorkville, far from the downtown area. They were just too cheap to put me in a comparable hotel. Despite their assertions that the city was completely booked I was able to book a comparable hotel through Orbitz. Because of the last minute booking I had little choice and had to pay more for my room. If you really need to stay in Toronto don't depend on a reservation at the Pantages. They do not provide an adequate alternative if they cannot honor a reservation.
Additionally should you mention that the hotel might be mismanaged, the staff is likely to verbally attack you, the guest, rather than apologize for the inconvenience their mismanagement has caused.
