“Excellent cruise on a tall ship”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Kajama is a fun boat tour of Toronto harbor. 1 1/2 hour tour, sailing several hours each day & reasonably priced. Remember to volunteer when asked to raise the sails! Staff work hard to please and very friendly. Beer/Wine is available. Try the nachos, excellent snack while on board.

“Nice getaway from the city, sunset cruise recommended”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

How can you go wrong with a $12 groupon (reg. price $25)? Easiest way to book tickets is online. Book early on the day you plan to go, once the weather forecast is good. It would be a waste of time to take this cruise on a very rainy or foggy day. The best benefit of checking online is seeing which cruise times are already taken. You'll find a lot of weekend slots are fully booked later in the day - presumably by weddings and other private parties. You also get a small discount on pre-ordered food.

I took my e-mail confirmation to the line. It's a bit disorganized as to where the line starts, but for us it was at the sandwich-board sign near the kiosk (not on the gangway). There is plenty of room on deck, and people move around anyway; so no need to worry about not getting a seat.

The ship is lovely and stable. The lake was calm; so there was no issue with seasickness. The Kajama takes a simple course out to the lake and back, always having a view of the city skyline. The crew is all college students with very friendly personalities. They are great with kids and let them "steer" the ship with the captain, sit on the upper deck, etc.

There are a few activities to keep people engaged: guest participation in raising the sails, the firing of a small cannon. But mostly people are there to drink and chat. Everyone around me had at least 2 drinks; so everyone was relaxed without getting rowdy. Many people ordered food; to me it seemed like typical pub grub served in plastic baskets.

I took a sunset cruise which was great to take photos of the city skyline and CN Tower. It did get a bit chilly. Two hours is just about the right duration to enjoy the water and fresh air. Upon leaving, I was happy to contribute to the crew's college fund ( a big red bucket at the exit). Really, this is a nice bunch of kids.

All in all, it's a nice way to end a day in the city and recommended for tourists and even locals like me who enjoy seeing their city as a tourist would. And I'd definitely consider it for a corporate event or an engagement party.

“Ok to do once...”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We and two of our friends took the cruise last Saturday night. It was the last cruise of the day. 7:30pm boarding. Sailed from 8pm - 9:15pm.
I had thought that this ship was one of the Tall Ships that are currently cruising the Great Lakes. It is not. It has a permanent home at Queens Quay. I was expecting to learn about where the crew had been and how the ship work and to where they were headed from here. NOPE!
All it is, is a commercial, money grab, with a bar and grill on board. Not really a working ship at all.
I was expecting that the sip would perhaps sail around Center Island, but it just follows the coast away's and then turns around.
So, yes, I was disappointed.
However, it was nice just to be out on the water with good friends and I did enjoy myself!
One of those things that I was glad to be out and experiencing something different, but I wouldn't spend the money on it again.

“Friendly staff”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

The students try their best to give the most enjoyable time on the ship. Everyone had a good time. I suggest to bring an umbrella if the sun is out just in case. I was sweating buckets out there. Not cute. They also take pictures of you for $15 and additional for $10.
