As a neighbour, I was very excited to try out catch a couple of weeks ago, as our friends were taking us there for our anniversary dinner.

We were seated at a 6 top high table in the window. The atmosphere was not very enjoyable and the vibe wasn't fun. This is for a number of reasons. We felt like we were in a fishbowl (ironic?) both to the passersby and to the other patrons. If we got animated, it felt like the whole restaurant was watching.

The wait staff were not great. They awkwardly reached over us to pass food, interrupted conversation to ask if we wanted more water and were generally rude. When they got part of our order wrong, they made a point to blame us, tell us it would be 15 minutes and asked us if we still wanted the items. awkward. Thats the best way to describe the service.

The fish was cooked as good as fish can be cooked. Scary good actually. The halibut steak was perfection. But sometimes great fish isn't enough. As a potential frequent customer, the vibe and service will keep me away.

If you're looking for atmosphere, ambiance and city pulse, yes, this is the place where it is happening. Virtually every evening, Catch seems packed. However, if you're looking for good value and a meal you that will blow your socks off, this is not your best bet. Fish is fresh but unimaginative in presentation and sadly lacking in flavour. Prices are high for what you get. Expect to pay in the $30s for a slice of fish. If I can make it at home, it's hard to justify coming back. Staff is friendly and polite and service is very good. Otherwise, a bit over rated and over hyped.

This is my kind of restaurant. Small, quaint, nice atmosphere, good service and fantastic food. I also happen to love all things fish and seafood so the menu was great. It is 100 times better than the sister restaurant called Rushton, across the street. You have to get in the sharing groove and it can add up if you order a bunch of small dishes but it is well worth it and I will definitely be going back. There are too few restaurants like this in Toronto so I am thrilled they have filled the niche.

Spent a lovely summer evening out with eight friends at Catch. The staff were incredibly attentive and very knowledgable about the wine list and menu items. The menu had a great selection and everyone found something they loved! The portions were quite generous and the choices were unique and deliciously prepared. Would definitely come back so I can try other menu items!

Come for the food stay for the service ... Friendly, happy, great everything. We loved this place.

Try the full fish but there is nothing bad on the menu.
