We had a very pleasant Persian dinner in the Gilaneh Restaurant. The decor is beautiful. The restaurant was full, and the service was excellent. Our meal was interesting and delicious. Even the bread was delicious. We had the chicken bong kebab and lamb shank, and enjoyed both immensely. It was a very pleasant evening. A good spot for dinner when staying at the Westin Prince.

Our family of 4 dined tonight for the first time at this this restaurant. The decor is nice from the combined modern & classic in the lobby to the in restaurant classic decor. There seemed to be enough servers on the floor for the number of tables occupied...but we were not given much attention. We arrived at approx 7:20 and left at 9:30p. We were seated promptly, but it took easily 15 minutes before our server came to our table with the decanter of water & glasses with out a welcome or introduction. It took another 15-20 before she came back to take our order (menus closed on the table). We were looking forward to receiving our freshly baked bread to go with our Yogurt dip...until we spotted the baker through the archway eating his food with a spoon and making bread! Clearly against public health rules. Can he not take a break and come back to his station? We waited at least 40 minutes for our food to arrive without as much as a glance over by our server....The food was fine. Nothing exceptional. The rice that came with 3 or our meals was too firm. My dill rice was fluffy and good that came with my lamb shank. I don’t normally add salt to my food but did with this meal. Our server checked on us one time not long after our food arrived, but then went back to ignore-mode. She came to clear some dishes and we asked for the bill. She came back to clear the remaining dishes...we asked for the bill again.

The restaurant was very hot & stuffy...which was surprising as I would expect that being inside the Weston Prince Hotel, AC would not be an issue....The music was initially classic Persian, but then switched to Spanish. Wrong culture, but still nice.

We wanted to try this restaurant and see their classic decor. We will not be returning here. We will go back to our usual restaurant at Yonge & Steeles.

Suggestions:
1. Full customer service training: welcome your guests, show that you are happy that they chose your restaurant over the many, many, many other restaurants to chose from.
2. Greet your guests immediately after they are seated. Introduce yourself.
3. Ensure that the restaurant temperature is appropriate. If not, apologize. Let people know.
4. Make menus suggestions (we didn’t need it, but probably hotel guests do)
5. Apologize if the kitchen is backed up. Offer something...more bread? At least come back to the table. Don’t ignore the situation or your guests
6. Ensure that all members of your team are following best practices and Public Health Rules. Not eating around food to be consumed by the public.
7. Smile. Engage your guests. Serve their food with a smile...at least say “enjoy your food....please let me know if you need anything else”.
8. Check in at the beginning of the meal and at the 3/4 point...maybe there is something needed?
9. Clear at a reasonable time after guests have finished eating & ask if there is anything else? Suggest a dessert? Tea?
10. Thank you. We look forward to welcoming you back or something like that.
11........act like you are happy to see everyone who is spending hard earned money in the establishment.

After a long day at a conference in the Westin Prince, a group of us wearily crossed the lovely grounds to Gilaneh. It's a Persian Restaurant with great decor and atmosphere. Looking around I would say that most of the diners were regulars. There were several family groups. Our table had a view of the grounds, and the spacing was such that it didn't feel crowded or noisy. The food was very tasty - large portions, interesting flavors. Most of us were too stuffed to finish. The service was very good. The bill was extremely reasonable. It was a perfect end to our long day and I would certainly return if I were in that area of Toronto.

Beautiful decoration and excellent food.
The staff were friendly and polite. We reached there late at closing time. But they kept the restaurant and served us. The food was great.

Stuffed eggplants with pomegranate and walnuts was awesome. As was their kebabs and flatbread. Persian ice cream / falooda is highly recommended too.
