Well my daughter works with some people form Pursia who recommended this restaurant. First of all once you walk into the Weston Price with it's nice décor and spectacular forest views from the restaurant and the bar inside the hotel you feel like you are on holiday - which is significantly better than just being out for dinner. After a drink at the bar we headed to Gilaneh 5 min down a corridor, the stairs up were decorated with traditional items from Persia (I suppose - they are interesting and set the mood well), inside is very different from a restaurant in Canada and makes the trip worth while. although it just opened for the evening (5:30) two of the three forest view tables were taken. This never bothered us as the décor was significant to whisk you away to the middle east. The girls on the way in had beautiful black hair and stunning features, about a dozen waitresses, when 3-4 would have been enough at this hour. Our young lady was very pleasant and helpful with the menu. The three of us ordered main courses, a 1/2 litre of red house wine. We had to ask for a take out container to bring the extra food, it is too good to leave behind and the portions are substantial. The traditional salad of cut vegetables is excellent, as well as the chicken and ground beef. Spices, flavour, and healthy eating - the perfect combination for myself, and the two young ladies. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Perhaps the best part was how smooth the red wine was to drink and no head aches later. We will definitely go back, and take a larger group with us, because a place like this should be shared with your best friends because they will love it as well.

I visited the Gilaneh Persian Restaurant while staying at the Westin Prince in Toronto. The decor was very striking and the servers extremely hospitable. The bread was the softest I have ever had and the kebabs were at their succulent best. You must try the dogh (a yoghurt based drink) there.

While visiting Toronto, we were taken to this restaurant for a late lunch. The atmosphere on your way in was very nice. Lots of ancient Persian replica artifacts to read about and nice background for pictures. We were greeted by a polite gentleman that lead our party to our reserved table. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. Drinks were good and enjoyed the water jug left at the table. The fresh barbari bread was excellent. Our waitress made sure we never ran out.

Then appetizer of garlic yogurt was very nice along side the fresh bread as well as a nice little extra when your meal is delivered. I personally had the joojeh kabob (chicken breast marinated with saffron) was very tender and moist. It was flavourful and plentiful. The rice was nice but my one criticism is the lack of golden saffron rice. The saffron was noticeably watered down. Nice size grilled tomato. The kebab brag was not tender enough and it was a little bit dry. The meat was somewhat chewy. We did not have tea or sweets as we were so full from our meals.

This was a reasonably priced restaurant with nice size portions. Bring an appetite and enjoy the positive and friendly atmosphere but I will be trying other restaurants as I have had much better Persian cuisine elsewhere.

This restaurant is well located next to the Westin hotel with masses of parking. The decor is attractive and interesting. We were a party of six for dinner and were given excellent service. Our server was pleasant, attentive and professional. The food however, although not bad, could not be described as particularly good. It had a kind of tired, been on the menu for ever feel. With plastic touristy type menus, some of which were getting a little tatty, this restaurant is is only just in the mid market range. Prices were quite reasonable but certainly not cheap.

I enjoyed the authentic Persian cuisine at this fine restaurant. We tried a variety of different items and all were excellent. One of the guests that dined with us is Persian and enjoyed the food and said it was authentic.....I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in authentic Persian food and ambiance.
