“Great service and lovely rooms”
Reviewed March 28, 2011

We recently stayed at the Old Mill for a wedding and we really enjoyed ourselves. The room was lovely and by far the cleanest I have ever seen in any of the places we have stayed over the years.

The Inn is quite large so it doesn't really feel very "homey", but rather more like a hotel. The hallways can get quite busy from the late afternoon into the evening with multiple weddings occuring simultaneously.

The staff were very polite and accomodating and they seemed to really enjoy their jobs. The fireplaces in the rooms are a nice touch.

The only thing that I found to be a little lacking was the view in our room. We were in a garden suite and when we opened the windows, we saw dead plants and garbage. It's Canada and it's winter so there isn't much you can do to beautify, but the gardens should be cleaned of litter at least.

I would recommend the Inn for a nice romantic getaway.

While this place is usually out of our price range we splurged for a special occasionand didnt regret one dime.. The jazz pianist in the home smith bar was one of the best i have ever heard. They upgraded our room for no added charged and the staff went out of their way to accomodate all our needs right down to finding and ice bucket & champagne glasses for us. the room was beautiful and incredibly comfortable, especially the bed. All the little extras like lots of towels & wonderful shampoo etc made the stay a dream.

very pleasant, great room, near the humber river, you could go fishing for salmon in September, ride bikes, picnic. subway to downtown Toronto in 20 minutes. On site spa, but no pool. Looks like an old English manor. Too bad they couldn't keep some of the original historic old mill. But at least it looks like the original with the exterior stone walls,,Quite scenic in the fall and winter......

We booked our upcoming May wedding here based upon word of mouth and the Hotel's website. Our overnight was to check it out, meet the catering staff and minister for planning purposes and to just relax. We were not in anyway dissappointed: in fact everything well exceeded our expectations.

The Mill is a bit 'sprawling' as it has been rebuilt and expanded to accommodate its current use. The staff were all phenomenal, friendly and helpful. From the reception, through to the catering staff, no one could have been more pleasant. All made us feel as though they truly cared that we should have a great time and were willing to provide friendly directions if we appeared lost.

We did not dine in the main restaurant, but had Speckled Trout in the Home Smith bar, primarily to hear the jazz trio since the main room had a 'tribute' style band. I'm sure that they were fine, but just not we were looking for on our Friday evening. The meal was very good, right sized with some very fresh veggies. The cheese tray as savoury to finish off was wonderful and, I thought, a great deal (not that we were looking for 'deals' here) artfully presented with lots of fresh bread slices and flatbread wedges.

We booked a Deluxe King Room but were toured through the Luxury King Suite at our request, since we have booked this for our wedding. So nice was it that we decided to extend our stay on the wedding weekend in the suite.

The only drawback (and to be sure there is nothing the Hotel can do about this) is that, given the topography and former use of the Hotel as a mill, this was not a pretty time to visit: some areas flooded, difficult to clean up the flotsum and jetsum and pointless to do so given the spring ebb and flow that is bound to occur from the river.

Clearly, there are less expensive places to stay, but as a treat The Old Mill Inn is a treat!

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were spacious yet cozy, especially watching the snow fall gently outside. The meals were delicious and the waiter that served us was very helpful and patient. We had 6 grandchildren with us so the activity around the table was hectic at time and he just went with it ! We really appreciated his kindness. We all had fun on the dance floor including the little ones. The entertainment was great. The hospitality of the Old Mill Inn was friendly and warm. After finding our way around, it felt like home. Thank you to all the staff for making our 40th anniversary weekend one we will remember for many years to come.

I just got home from a two day conference at this beautiful property. Everything was professionally done as far as the conference is concerned. The Inn and it's rooms are clean, quiet and very unique. I liked this place so much I plan on returning and bringing my wife along on a get-a-way. My son is also planning his wedding in 2012 and you can bet that I will be recommending that he add this place to his list of possible locations for the wedding and reception. Thank you Old Mill Inn!

We checked in with the Sunday treat package. As we had VIP status - we received an upgraded room. It was a King Suite sitting room. Upon entry to our room - the fireplace was on - warm and cozy and a lovely bottle of chilled white wine was waiting for us! The room was immaculate - the bathroom is very luxurious. We went to the Sunday night buffet and the food was sensational. The wine per glass is a little pricy at $11.50 but we enjoyed it all the same. The resort room was extremely quiet. The following morning, we had a continental breakfast in the Terrace. I did have to inquire one of the servers to request a bagel and he was able to retrieve some for the table. It would have been nice to have the servers walk around the room offering coffee more often instead of the patrons having to ask for it. However, once we asked - they were very resonsive.
I would definitely return to this location - would like to experience it in the summer time.
