Seriously, this is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The waiter is handsome and polite. I love the food. My friends and I, 3 people, ordered 3 lobster bisque, 4 main dishes, 3 desserts. We love the lobster bisque. The shrimp on the lobster bisque tastes DELICIOUS~~~~~~~~~ WE LOVE THE SOUFFLÉ!! I wish they can have a bigger portion of it.

The restaurant is small and require reservation in ADVANCE. This is actually a good thing because the waiter has all his attention on you. I love the style of the restaurant. They did not make us pay a certain amount of gratuity like some other restaurants. But we paid more than we usually do because we love the service at the restaurant.

STRONGLY recommend this restaurant!!

I have heard a lot of great reviews about ici bistro and we were lucky enough to get a table for 2 the day before the dinner.

Service is attentive and unpretentious. The waitress came to take us to our table the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Then brought us the menu with some explanations on how the 2 prices works. Each dish also paired with a Canadian wine as well as a French wine

We ordered 4 app size courses to share and we had to cancel the cheese plate because we were full. Here are what we ordered:

1.) Beef tartar

Easily the best tartar I've had in Toronto. High quality beef with herbs and mustard.

2.) lobster bisque

Creamy with layers of flavor. It was not salty at all so you can taste the lobster in every spoon. The carppcinno foam add some creamy texture to the bisque. There is no cream added to the bisque so it keeps the bisque light.

3.) foie gras

The foie gras goes perfectly with the fig and the toast.

4.) braised beef

The beef is tender and flavorful. I find the best part of the dish is the deep fried beef with bone marrow. The bone marrow intensified the beef flavor and made the beef more juicy.

The best part of the dinner is the souffle. It was bouncing left and right when the waitress placed it on our table. Your spoon will go right through the souffle. It's truly crispy on top and fluffy inside. You will keep going back for more. It was not as sweet as a typical dessert so you could taste the egg white blended with some orange peel & grand mariner. Perfect ending to our dinner. We have been to many Michelin star restaurants in the world and this is the best we have had so far.

One negative comment which is unrelated to the food itself. We went on a hot summer day and restaurant is not equipped with a proper A/C. The heat from the open kitchen made the dining experience a little unpleasant during the summer time

Exquisite describes Ici Bistro. It's very small, hard to get a reservation, but worth the wait and the price. One of the best restaurants I've been to. Everything is prepared with great detail, even the greens accompanying a dish. Fabulous selection of delicious appetizers. Main courses excellent. Requires a return visit just to try the different dishes. Wonderful service. French cuisine at its best.

Finally Toronto has a high end neighbourhood bistro offering top notch food and service.
This is not your usual bistro fare. Dishes are lighter, perfectly executed, well timed, beautifully presented. Almost all items on the menu come in two sizes so you can order smaller portions if you wish. The service is professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
The wine list is well chosen but you can also bring a special bottle. Corkage is 25. Souffles are to die for.
The place is small and intimate but that's what makes it so good. You can feel the personal touch of the chef inviting you into his kitchen where together with his team he will strive to make your evening memorable. And J.P. Challet at the helm of his kitchen is just like the captain who steers his ship in the right direction ensuring smooth sailing all the way.
Yes, you have to book ahead but it is worth the wait. We visited twice, once with friends and once with family and we'll be back.

We went for supper on Feb 3, 2012 and had an excellent evening. We each had three plates of the smaller size each paired with the suggested wines. (All choices come in small or main meal size) Choice is excellent, preparation and plates are definitely first class. Prices are a touch expensive but well matched to what you get so actually plenty of bang for the buck. Servers are friendly and helpful and attentive.
Bistro only seats 24 and is casual. I was the only man present wearing a tie.
We had reserved some 6 weeks in advance and the reservation got lost but they were able to fit us in and did so with grace and pleasant charm.

A must visit Toronto restaurant with excellent food and charm and grace.
