We went out for dinner one night and walked down to the place on the lake... bit of a hike, walking around a sugar factory, construction, and then down to this relatively isolated building and park place. Eventually, it'll be all connected with civilization...

The food was okay for pub food... had fish and chips, and it was one hunking large fish - but they could have wrapped it in newspaper to get the excess frying grease out of it.. The other challenge was the service... Seems like the poor staff didn't know what tables, who was drinking what drink.

Overall nice place, view would be great on a summer day, but a bit disorganized and need more attention on food quality and presentation

Good beer selection - ordered the four 9oz draught samplers - the Lambic glass was only 2/3 full and had two ice cubes as well. Most Lambic taste best when served ice cold. I pointed out that it's not full, the server said because it is the most expensive on the sampler list. Keep in mind that I ordered the 4 9oz samplers. There is no fine print that indicates you get less. This is false advertising. We pointed it out to the supervisor that night, he justified why but IT IS STILL FALSE ADVERTISING ON THEIR MENU.
Food - we asked our server for apps suggestions - and ordered the lobster tacos - she came back to say that they were out. We ordered the nachos. Which are good but very skimpy with the cheese. Both of us were recommended the steak/ frites. It was excellent. It s served as a thick baseball cut it was cooked medium. Overall worth it.

What better way to spend an evening than on the patio at Against the Grain. On one of the first nice summer days, it was packed but this didn't mean that the food quality or speed of service suffered.

We had a very enjoyable meal and really enjoyed the atmosphere of the lounge chairs, oversized umbrellas and fun times.

Parking is ample as it's in a less busy area of the city.

Great restaurant, feels like you are away from the city, watch the sailing races, ships unloading sugar, motor boats, planes arriving at the island airport. Alway great food and service, friendly staff and fabulous view.
Great place in all four seasons.

On our recent first visit to Toronto, our concierge at the Renaissance Toronto Downtown suggested this restaurant. We enjoyed a beautiful walk from the Hotel, along the waterfront area. We had almost given up and then saw a sign for the restaurant. We are glad we did not give up! We opted for an outdoor table and our server suggested we sit with a table that also had a heater. Great idea! The drink selection was good and the food was delicious and priced accordingly. Excellent service, great food, lovely waterfront setting.
