A group of recently had dinner at Union, which is a funky little restaurant on Ossington Ave. We were there in July for the first time, and it was fabulous. This time, not so much. We went on a Monday night, which must be the regular chef's night off. Also, Monday is half price wine night, but I think it's a different wine list than the other nights. I can understand that, as getting a $40. bottle of wine for $20. would be amazing and unheard of. I'm pretty sure the cheapest bottle on the Monday wine list is $60. I had the fish and it was raw, blood oozing all over my plate. I had to send it back and it still came back a bit mushy for my liking. On a better note, one of our group had the steak/frites and said it was the best steak she'd ever had! The salads and starters were all very good too, but not quite as good as the first time. The service on the other hand is amazing. All the staff are very friendly and work very hard.
I'm not trying to be picky, I think this is an amazing restaurant, with a real Greenwich Village vibe, I just think it was an off night. We will definitely be back again, but not on a Monday.
