“a lively, sophisticated spot”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Stopped in for a drink before retiring - really felt part of the Toronto vibe - lots of well dressed folks enjoying drinks and nibblies (the sliders are lovely) - crowded but could easily carry on a conversation with my tablemate.

“Just what one wants in a meal”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Exquisitely prepared, quickly delivered. Quality service. The wait staff were always around and helpful (of course I was there in non-peak hours).

“Timeless and classic!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

I love the Royal York and all the history. The Library Bar continues with this theme. The decor is timeless, the waiters are "mature" and attend to you with interest, and the food and drinks were delicious.

“High Tea at Library Bar”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

This comment is regarding afternoon Tea at Library Bar in Fairmont Royal York Toronto:

I went for High Tea on October 14, 2012 - 1pm. We were seated near the door, when asked if we can sit elsewhere, the staff said they cannot as another table specially requested the 2 seats. But we also reserved a table.

The pastries were stale, the madeleines were worse than Starbucks, it was white chocolate, not dark (as advertised on the menu). The scones were so dry and although the staff heated it on the fire, it was just barely lukewarm. The lemon financiers were so tart and not fresh at all.

The sandwiches were bland - I've had better cucumber sandwiches.

Also, advertisement of loose tea leaves were wrong, I opened my teapot and noticed it was in a teabag, for a tea lover, that is definitely no no. And they didn't have the Jasmine tea or the Kea Lani.

For the amount of money charged, it was not worth it, I could go for steak for the same price. I walked away unsatisfied.

“Oasis of relaxation”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

great for coffee, cafe, and dessert. Totally chill place to unwind. I like to melt into one of the loveseat tables and take my time to read/talk/text/unwind. Fairmont staff are there for you. Not outrageously priced, and very fair.
