A foodie's delight. Small details well done. Interesting menu -- bison carpacio, lamb sirloin, veal sweetbreads and riccota gnudi were excellent -- well presented. Excellent wine list with good selection by the glass... Something that more restaurants seem to offer now. Good service.

Luma gets the best dressed award for casual elegant dining. The location has a charm of it's own up on the second floor of the TIFF Centre, with large windows overlooking the architecture and action of King St. Ask for a window table to takea advantage. The menu is eclectic but has a bit of everything so it is not hard to find something to please, and the service is outstanding, very accomodating to all needs; dietary, theatre deadlines, whatever you can throw at them. Food is delicious, and on this visit we tried a bit of everything; maple glazed sweetbreads with bacon, field green salad with sherry vinaigrette and bacon, calves liver with yes, bacon. The chef loves his bacon and hides it in some form; pancetta, guanciale, whatever, and wherever he can or adorns each dish with a bit of it, just to let you know. But each dish was delicious. Servings of appetizers are petite, so don't plan to share, but mains are generous. Wine list is of course long and has a bit of everything, lots from Ontario, south and east. I would recommend this as a great place to bring visitors to the city to show off both the location and the food.

This restaurant has it all, beautiful decor, amazing service and most importantly great interesting food.
In the middle of all the action it is a wonderful easy place to stop and have a perfect meal. The menu is specific yet still has all you want.
I had the shrimp crevice and the lobster/shrimp burger, so good!

Spicy red beet soup was on order, bison carpacio, and caesar salad, so we didn't try a wide range of items, to be fair. I thought the food was reasonable but nothing extraordinary. The room is lovely and airy. Service was average I thought. Best to say Luma is "reliable", and the location convenient on King Street West, but overall, not terribly exciting.

A trip to Toronto happened to fall overlap with my birthday, so my family and I dined at Luma for my birthday dinner. I had been to Luma one time previously, in June 2011 (see earlier review), for lunch and loved it. I can say that dinner completely exceeded my expectations! Our server was so warm and friendly with my family, and was genuinely interested in making sure we had a great time. She was very knowledgeable about the specifics of each menu item. The other staff were very attentive as well, including the sommelier.

I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions, or any meal where you want to dine in a classy and modern environment. Please see attached photos for drink/entree/dessert!
