“Tried The Scotch Egg”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

We definitely enjoyed our meal at the Caledonian. We sat in the rear courtyard (recommend) and the service was good and friendly.

We ordered the Steak Pie and the Fish and Chips and we split them so that each of us could try a little bit of each meal. We also tried the Scotch Egg (Google it if you don't know what it is:-) which was a good way of trying just a little bit of haggis! It wasn't bad and we didn't dislike it but we both agree that we probably wouldn't order it again.

“A great experience - truly Scottish and truly memorable”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

Like: Donna, the owner is warm, vibrant and an amazing host. She looks a bit like princess Merida in Brave (sorry, Donna, I'm sure you get that all the time), The food was super authentic but raised up a notch. We had the Ardbeg (whisky) smoked salmon which was amazing, the fish and chips (huge portions, top quality) , and a special shrimp taco dish which was a delicious Caledonian take on a latin favorite. The servers were all very warm and attentive, working like a happy, finely tuned team. It made a difference! Thanks.
Dislikes : Apparently, you can still smoke in restaurants in Canada - not the fault of the restaurant, but hey, if you've got free health care, you might as well make the most of it , eh?
Tip: If it's a warm night, opt for a table on the back patio and dig into the extensive brew and whisky selection. HEAVEN.
Summary: The Caledonian is a not-to-be missed Toronto experience. Top notch service, excellent food and a beer and spirits list second to none. Go! now!

“A home from home.”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

Never felt so at home so far away from Scotland. I was given the warmest welcome, I only came in for a couple and stayed all night. Donna and her team have it just right and hit the spot with the beer and food they offer. They also have the best haggis I have tried outside Scotland.

Thanks a million and see you next time.

“Haggis & Neeps!”
Reviewed December 13, 2010

Not "beeps" -- typo or edit error! A difficult dish to find in Toronto's culinary landscape - some might say 'deservedly so' but the Caledonian is to be commended for making Haggis available!

“Splendid Scottish Pub; warm hearth, good food, rare beer - and whisky”
Reviewed December 12, 2010

Haggis & beeps, deep-fried Mars bars, and, importantly, Caledonian's 80/- beer -- in Toronto, who knew!
If you haven't tried 80/-, do so. If you look cream ale, Guinness, Boddington's, Kilkenney -- try 80/-, you'll be back.
As for the pub, good food, attentive service, and a landlord with a smile that lights the room. A must-visit, often!
