The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto
Ranked #5 of 136 Hotels in Toronto
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This was our second time at this hotel. The decor is not the traditional elegant style of other Ritz properties (Orlando, Naples). It is more modern (Ritz Battery Park) and caters to a business crowd but still elegant. Bathrooms are large and beautiful - better than any other Ritz we have been to. There was a wow factor during our first stay (Toronto needed a fresh 5-star hotel). Televisions in the bathroom mirrors, candy stations for kids in the lobby were some of the highlights. This time around I was less impressed. The breakfast was just ok and after a day in the city we arrived with an sick child around 2:30 to a room that was not yet made even though housekeeping was on our floor when we left hours and hours before. I settled for fresh towels because we couldn't wait and our child was not feeling well. Room service lunch for one adult and one child was not quite as ordered and came to nearly $90 with no drinks. For $500 a night on a weekend I was feeling a bit underwhelmed (Battery Park in NYC which is also a business hotel in a big city has better rates and summer packaged). Wifi is extra and Valet parking is a whopping $45 per night. Was this great value? No. Would I return? Only with a better package rate. The room was new and well-appointed and the Ritz brand is generally dependable so as far as luxury hotels go in Toronto, it was a very safe bet. The did recognize we had stayed before and the staff is well trained. Next time I might try the Trump or the Four Seasons though and as noted I would definitely look for better value even at this luxury end.

Room Tip: Higher floors give you a great view of the CN tower.

We spent 5 days in Toronto for a conference and this was my first stay at any Ritz-Carlton hotel. I am spoiled for life! The hotel was beautiful and the customer service was top-notch. From the time you step foot in this hotel to the time you leave, the staff goes out of their way to accomodate any and evey need. I would recommend adding the "club lounge" option as it was perfect for breakfast and we never missed the nightly desserts. As far as location, the hotel is the middle of downtown and across the street from both the Toronto Metro Convention Center and CN Tower. Anyone traveling to Toronto should give this hotel a try. You will not be disappointed!

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto for four nights over my birthday. My husband booked us an afternoon at the spa on my birthday and the staff and services at the spa were fantastic. We surprisingly spent a fair amount of our time between services in the large room of natural light and found it incredibly relaxing just being in the room. It was a weekday so it was also very quiet.
The staff at the hotel went out of their way to help us find a rental car to drive to Niagara Falls, not realizing we were looking for a car over a long holiday weekend. They also were sure to show us that there was more than the falls and great vineyards in the area. It was nice that they followed up after our day trip to see how it went.
We've now been twice to the Ritz in Toronto and I'll do my best to convince my husband to stay there any time we return to Toronto.

We had a great experience at this hotel! Beautiful room, so luxurious, and friendly accommodating staff. Great downtown location, very close to attractions and the front desk staff even helped us figure out which attractions to check out. We loved the outdoor bar behind the hotel with cozy couches and fireplaces.

Excellent hotel with tremendous, friendly staff. Location is in the heart of Toronto, convenient to Rogers Centre and much, much more. The only negative would be lack of free WiFi in rooms (it IS complimentary in lobby) and the exorbitant cost of parking. My rental rate for a full size vehicle was LESS than the daily $48 parking rate. However, the hotel did allow us to leave the vehicle parked from checkout time until 10 pm that night without incurring an additional fee.

Room Tip: If you will be in the downtown area throughout your stay, consider dropping off your rental car (Bud...

We spent a long anniversary week end here and loved it! We had a room overlooking the lake on the club floor and thoroughly enjoyed the club. The food and drink were exceptional as was the service. The female concierges were knowledgable and helpful and the male was all about making drinks for a few ladies and ignoring the rest of us. We had massages which were great, the spa which was rated the No.1 spa in Canada by Travel and Leisure magazine, is good but not the best. Overall, it is a beautiful hotel with excellent service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view.
