“Not Quite a WOW!”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

This hotel is located in the entertainment district and an ideal place to stay for sporting and theater events as well as dinning out. We have stayed here a number of times and as far as North American Properties go this Ritz rates up there, however there is still no comparison to the WOW factor of high end properties in Asia!

The service here is excellent. From the moment we pulled up to the front entrance where we were greeted by the bell men and then promptly escorted into the large and impressive lobby and personally directed to the front desk all this while our car was emptied and then parked gave excellent first impressions!

The club floor manager Monika was helpful and promptly checked us in, Monika pointed out the hotel highlights and made herself available for any inquires we may have. The bell boy who delivered our luggage shortly after we arrived in the room was also helpful and polite and a wealth of helpful information
.
Our one bedroom two bath suite was fairly large and pleasantly furnished. From the washroom to the rest of the room the decorations and furnishing although nice and comfortable really did not have that WOW factor one gets accustomed to in various higher end properties around the globe. The unique feature of having a TV in the washroom mirror was astonishing at first – unique is pretty much what it is as it is difficult to watch unless right in front of it and even then focus is an issue. Perhaps if it featured high def with DVD hook up and could be viewed from the bath we would have been more wowed and been able to use the unique toy!

The complimentary high speed internet in the room was a nice touch and worked well.

The comfortable club floor lounge offered an excellent view of the Toronto water front, Toronto Island in the back ground, Steam Whistle Brewery, The Rogers center and the CN tower. As well the lounge featured a complimentary breakfast buffet, complimentary munchies and drinks (beer, wine, cocktails, water, pop etc.) throughout the day. Lunch sandwiches, evening cocktails and canapés followed by late evening sweets assured a constant supply of foods. The food fare throughout the day was a nice touch and suited our busy schedule. The evening canapés however were a bit tasteless and stale and we also found some of the club floor staff aloof and stand offish – they could be a lot friendlier and smile more, as well they also could be more available and not have us searching and then finding them hiding out in the kitchen! As well the girl who brought us up evening room service spilled water all over the floor and never cleaned it up – she came across as a very nervous newbie!

There is no doubt this hotel is very expensive and probably hard for some to justify the cost unless money is no object. However the property was sold out every night we were there so obviously the high prices are warranted.

All in all we had a great stay and would certainly consider the property on our next visit to the area…. That is if we could justify the high cost of a less than WOW property!

The rooms are excellent, modern and simple which suits my taste. I would say the location is a little far from the heart of the city and attractions, but the service was very welcoming and accommodating. Biggest complaint would be breakfast, they seemed understaffed to handle the orders.

Seriously, the friendliest, cheerful, yet professional staff experience we've had in a long time. From room service, front desk and especially main entrance, my wife and I couldn't be more impressed. Management should be proud of their team.
There is nothing negative we can say about our August 25 & 26 weekend stay. The hotel is beautiful inside and our room was immaculate. It was clean, modern and included every amenity and more. Ultra plush bathrobes, in-mirror TV in the bathroom, Bose sound system and a super comfortable King bed. The bathroom was exceptional. What really stands out to us was how quiet our room was. Very quiet between rooms and street noise including a busy Monday morning was low. We were on the 8th floor.
This hotel is easy walking distance to the theatre district, CN Tower, Rogers Centre (Blue Jays, Argonauts, concerts) and train station to name a few. It's in the financial district for you business travellers.
We recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in downtown Toronto.

Room Tip: Our room was on the northside facing Wellington St. so consider this if asking for a quiet room. A/C...

We have just spent three nights at the Ritz and would agree with most reviews that the staff at this hotel are its greatest asset. Excellent customer relations throughout. We splashed out on the afternoon tea which was very expensive but superb and I would like to thank the hotel for the cake which was delivered to our room for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. The rooms were great with view of the CN Tower and beds were very comfortable. Thank you very much for an excellent introduction to Toronto.

Room Tip: Well worth booking a CN Tower room - if only for the light display at night!

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton Toronto on my wedding night. I would usually never shell out $400+ a night, but I am lucky enough to know a Ritz employee who hooked us up with a major discount.

The Ritz is known to specialize in one thing: service! And they did not disappoint. The rooms are very nice, not amazing or bursting with character, but clean, modern and rather impressive.

Upon checkin we were immediately offered a late checkout (2pm), which was exactly what we needed after a long night of mingling. I asked the front desk if they could charge my iPhone and they did so without hesitation. I appreciated the warm reception at the concierge - smiles go a long way in the service industry.

We were directed to our room and once we arrived, the front desk called offering us free breakfast the next morning ($70 value). We gladly accepted.

The beds are comfy, filled with more than enough pillows. The TV was a large flat-screen and the furniture was modern. My favourite part of the room was the bathroom, which had a TV in the mirror (like high-end Las Vegas hotels).

Overall, our stay was very pleasant.

Pros
-service
-they make you feel important
-they give you their utmost attention - always

Cons
-the decor in the rooms was a bit too "classic" - I wanted to see more character
-TOCA restaurant - they forgot our pancakes after we waited for about 25 mins for them (this was definitely a big surprise)

Room Tip: I'm sure all the rooms are consistently good - it's the Ritz!

A short one night stay in a corner suite for $400 on a third party web site.
Check-in with valet parking was a breeze. Customer service is clearly one of their strong points.
The suite about 600+ sq.ft. was lovely and spacious with a powder room, living room, hallway, very large bathroom with toilet, shower, separate bath and double sinks, and a spacious bedroom with king bed. There were hardwood floors throughout, with rugs in the bedroom and living room. 3 TV's in all.
The linens were good but not great and the toiletries were good not great.
We prefer the linens Sferra and the toiletries Laura Tonnato at the 5* Surrey Hotel in NYC.
However, these are very minor and we highly reccomend this hotel.

Room Tip: I would suggest a room or suite on a higher floor which offer better views. Try Lastminutetravel.com...

I didn't get a chance to check out the pool or anything but the room was very nice. Had a tv in the mirror which i haven't seen before. Room had a patio which was also very nice - though it was a little odd- patio height was the same height as the roof of the adjoining building, so you could literally jump up on the roof and walk around -- though I wouldn't advise it. Inside of the room was top notch. I would definitely stay here again.
