This is a well maintained property a few steps east of the Yonge Street Subway a mile or two north of Toronto's central business (financial) district. There are a number of restaurants within easy walking distance. Parking is reasonably priced given the downtown urban location.

First night at this hotel our 21 year old daughter was stalked by a man from the nearby Loblaws store, who was able to find our room on the 9th floor. Police believe the staff at the front desk must have given out the room number because the hotel is so large with more than 15 rooms per floor. After this incident , we were quickly moved to another floor, the staff was alerted but it did not make us feel comfortable to know our room number was given out so easily.

Room Tip: one far from the elevator and above the 9th floor.

Dear Celina A,
I am sorry to read about the concerns you had with your past stay. Please rest assured that our guests' safety, security and comfort are our number one priority.
As a downtown location, our staff are all well trained in regards to the different aspects of guest safety and as such; guest room numbers/names are never provided to enquiring individuals.
I am glad to see that the front desk team were able to change your room so that you could feel more comfortable for the remainder of your stay.

Kind regards,

Alain

Choose this hotel if you are looking for a place to sleep in the middle of everything. We walked to do many neighborhoods from there and transportation is all around. Hotel was an average holiday inn. Room was clean, ask for a room with a view. Don't do the breakfast, overpriced and just ok. Walk a little and you will find lots of places to eat. Check out the distillery district, a little out of the way but worth it for the restaurants and scenery. Also don't go to Toronto without going to the St Lawerence Market. It cannot be missed. This hotel is a great value

We spent 5 days at the Holiday Inn D.C. and found it perfect for visiting the city.
It's a 5 minutes walking distance from the main mall Eton Center down to Yonge St. and from the main streets and squares.
The subway College Station station is at 1 minute walk and from there it's easy to reach also farther spots in town (e.g. the CN tower or the Yorkdale mall).
We got a king size bedroom, big enough and clean, with free wifi.
The staff has been very kind and reasonable when we ask for some flexibility in the check-out time.
Very close to the hotel in Carlton St. there is a Loblaws store with a great selection of take away food.
For a full-fledge breakfast we loved the Daybreak Diner right at the cross between Carlton St. and Church St.

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown Center for a night in late Dec 2012. We got a great room rate (US124) and expected something shabby for that rate in downtown Toronto. But we got a great, very recently updated room on the 20th floor (Priority Club floor, even though I forgot to mention that I was a member). The bathroom was small but really nice... walk-in shower stall in place of a bathtub (but the size of a bathtub), granite countertops, etc. Plush towels (white, not faded/old) and amenities by Bath and Bodyworks... very nice! The room was small but not overly tight even with the king bed. It was modern and updated and very comfortable. Being on the 20th floor, you couldn't see the street below, only the building across the street, and you could very faintly hear the street cars at night. Very quaint! Both of us got a great night's sleep. Bed was comfy (esp for me with my chronic back problem). The location is really great - it's half a block from Yonge St. so lots of restaurants and shopping. Check out is at 11am and we thought we'd need extra time. The receptionist was very gracious (she was very warm and welcoming to all the guests, I noticed) and gave us until 1pm. We ended up needing only an extra half hour but that was good because at 11am, the line to check out was really long. It's worth asking for extra time. A note about parking: you have to enter through the Wood St. entrance which is behind the hotel. I never got a receipt for parking but I think it's $25 a night. Still waiting for it to show up on my credit card, though it's been a week now. Breakfast was not included but the café right at the front entrance (facing Carlton St.) serves a fantastic, strong latté (and stale croissants). There is a Loblaws supermarket at the end of the block (same side of the street as the hotel) and I would probably go get some fresh croissants from the bakery section there for breakfast next time. Since we go to the greater Toronto area every year at this time, we've decided that this will be our regular hotel for a night out on the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 20th floor. If you're not a Priority Club member, maybe they'll set yo...

My wife and I had a Monday morning appointment downtown and decided to come in to the city the day before for a quick get away. Downtown Toronto can be expensive but we found this Hotel a real bargain. Paid $89 for on-line special. The entrance/lobby is welcoming and although not large, functions OK. I was expecting the rooms to be just average but was surprised to find large spacious newly reno'd room. We were on the 11th floor and saw a few other rooms on same floor. They all were newly reno'd. If the rest of the hotel is the same you do not need to book anywhere else. The location is short walk to restaurants, shopping, Eaton centre, etc. Free Wifi and hook up was easy.

Great location, for that reason alone would stay here again. The rooms are on the small side, but servicable, modern and clean. Underground parking is available, which was helpful. The staff were very friendly and competent, especially the woman at the front desk who checked us in. I was here for a leisure stay, but it would be a good business hotel as well if you had business meetings in the area.
