“One of Canada's top attractions.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

The Art Gallery of Ontario is in my opinion one of Canada's top attractions. Its fantastic architecture alone is an excellent reason to explore this wonderful building.

The gallery contains interesting Inuit art, which is unique and unusual, along with lots of Canadian paintings and sculptures. I enjoyed exploring the Canadian paintings: It was nice to compare them to the traditional European school which is much more common and can be found in all major museums in the world.

There are lots of Impressionist paintings, stunning sculptures of Henry Moore, Rodin and others and modern works of great artists like Sorel Etrog, a Romanian-born Canadian Sculptor.

On Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. entrance is free.

Highly recommended!

“David Bowie Exhibition outstanding but not so good otherwise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

We visited to see the wonderful David Bowie Exhibition over from England and set out on two floors of the AGO. The AGO itself is large and sprawling and disappointing for Henry Moore fans as despite gifting a large number of pieces to the museum only a few are on display. Added to that it is quite expensive to get in.

“Bowie at the AGO”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

My sister and I went to the Bowie exhibit at the AGO as she wanted to see it. I am not a fan, so to speak, but found the exhibit very interesting and enjoyed it. That being said, you are wearing headphones for the whole time and that can be tiresome if you are not used to doing so. We were told it would take a little more than an hour to see it all but it took us closer to 2 hours. Fan or not, there is a lot to see and absorb.

“Must visit when in Toronto”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2013

This is a really good gallery with some very interesting art. They have a large collection of the Group of Seven plus other artists. Occasionally they get special presentations such as Ai Wei Wei and Bowie, that are always well presented.
