Owner description: With a collection of more than 90,000 works of art, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is among the largest and most distinguished art museums in North America. An international landmark, the AGO is also one of Canada’s most innovative cultural destinations. Highlights of the Gallery’s world-class collection include iconic Canadian and Inuit works, along with European and contemporary art – all on view in a spectacular building transformed by renowned Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry. After spending time with the AGO’s vast collection, be sure to enjoy a meal or glass of wine at the Gallery’s award-winning restaurant FRANK. Visit shopAGO for a unique collection of artful gifts, one-of-a-kind jewelry, and beautiful art books.

I have been a member of the gallery for several years now, with my out-of-town membership. The space is well designed, and the art is wonderfully displayed. Some of the special exhibits are not to my taste, but we do go several times a year. I miss the old members lounge on the 2nd floor, but now the Grange House serves as the lounge. I can't say that I like how it was renovated. I preferred the Grange the way it used to be. Nice to have it connected to the main gallery now though.

Everything from the building itself is art. Even my children enjoyed the day.

The AGO has undergone an expansion, renovation and addition to its collections over the years. Beautiful building inside and out. Great and diverse collection. Amazing Canadian landsapes collection second floor. Old world and classics first floor. Good modern group. Great and free guided tours (highly recommended). Bernini sculptures a $90 Million Rubens, cool medievals and good representative pieces from many major artists. A great museum.

You may need two visits to see everything in this Gallery. It is fabulous and Toronto is so lucky to have this Gallery located in their city.
