“Chic, but filled with kids”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

This hotel is a very elegant but is a little bit over-crowded with kids because of the nice water park located in the hotel. The restaurant is a very nice place with great and friendly service. The water park is very fun, with a jacuzzi section made for adults. There are a lot of families staying there and they are very nice and friendly company. The area was very convenient for us because we were attending a family matter close by the don valley, (the hotel being right on the highway). The elevator is pretty fun because the elevator is fully enclosed in glass so firstly you see the two majestic floors and then you look outside onto the parking lot. I would stay here again no questions asked and would fully recommend staying here if you are with a family.

Room Tip: do not get a room on one of the wings.

The Delta Toronto East recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation and it is only comments such as your that truly emphasis the rejuvenation of our property.

I stayed for a couple of nights while at a hockey tournament. My son and I had a room with two double beds. The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of room for storage. My only complaint regarding the room would be a lack of fridge. I had ordered room service pizza, we didn't eat it all and it would have been nice to refrigerate it instead of wasting it and having to throw it out.
The pool area was great. The Delta had a lifeguard supervising and watching over the pool area which was great. He kept older kids away from the younger kids area and ensured that there wasn't any rough play.
We had room service, ate in the bar area and also in the dining room during our stay. All meals were good and the service was excellent.

My second visit to Delta Toronto East, and it was excellent once again. I typically don't write reviews, but I will go out of my way to stay at Delta properties, if available, when I travel. Clean with good customer service and an 'easy' experience for tenured traveler. Much appreciated!

We stayed here on an overnight trip to Toronto 28/29 January. The room was booked via Hotwire at a total cost (with taxes but before parking) of $103.80.

The hotel is located at the northeast corner of Warden Avenue and Highway 401 and is easily accessible. There is a large parking lot for the hotel but there is a $12/night parking charge. As a previous reviewer stated, given the fairly spacious location, this charge seems like a money grab. I resented it.

The hotel has an impressively wide main entrance and a spacious lobby. We smelled chlorine as soon as we entered the building (this in spite of the pool apparently being converted to salt water). I recall reading somewhere that having a pool area openly connected to another space within a building is a very hard thing to manage. We got used to it almost immediately though…I don’t think it is a big problem.

Check-in went efficiently. My wife handled that. She said it was done professionally, not overly warm and welcoming, but nothing wrong with the tone either.

Our room was on the 2nd floor with an interior balcony overlooking the pool. The carpet in our corridor had an unfortunate 3-colour pattern that made it look like it was worn at the edges - it wasn’t but there was a lot of lint on the carpet. It hadn’t received a very thorough vacuuming.

Our room was large enough…but not spacious. It had all the conveniences a guest would expect including flat screen TV (with at least 20 free channels), iron and ironing board, microwave, and refrigerator (empty) and free Internet connection.

We had a king-sized bed that was very comfortable. Everything in the room was clean and well-dusted. The bathroom was spacious and bright but had a mediocre ventilation system.

Just like other reviewers here, we passed on the expensive breakfasts at the in-house restaurant (“Delta Canadian Classic - $18.50, Delta Continental - $14.00, “Healthy Start” - $15.00). We noticed 2 guests breakfasting in the restaurant.

The only real issue we had during our stay was a wrong telephone call to the room at 00:02 which woke both of us from sound sleeps and distracted us for at least another half-hour afterwards. I answered it when I was disoriented and still more asleep than awake and I don’t know where the call came from. Regardless, I think in the future, I will take another Tripadvisor’s advice from somewhere and disconnect the telephone if I'm not expecting calls.

We didn't rush away in the morning but still 08:30 is a little early to have housekeeping knocking on your door. They were warm and pleasant ladies, however.

Always a good idea at a hotel not to play the busy exec and rush away without getting a final statement from the desk. Learned that the hard way last trip. No problem this time, but glad we did it.

Overall, we got fair value for the money spent. I’d rate the place as “good but not great”. I would give a modest recommendation of it to friends and relatives.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking to time to share your detailed experience. We are pleased to hear that your overall experience was positive and the value we offer meets your expectations.

Delta Toronto East has just completed a multi million dollar renovation of all guest rooms, hallways, restaurants and public spaces, including the stunning modernized lobby that you mentioned. We also converted our pool into salt water, thus removing many of the harsh chemicals used in traditional pools.

Our three full service restaurants ensure that we can accommodate guests dining needs for all occasions. The buffet breakfast is available 7 days a week, though a la carte menu options are also available. We offer a wide variety of packages with strong competitive value on our website, many which include our full buffet breakfast.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the future, as we value your business.

Regards,

Azhar Kheraj

We stayed here while attending a hockey tournament in Scarborough. The pool was quite nice with a 10-foot deep end and a surprisingly large enclosed water slide, which the kids really enjoyed. The squash/racquetball court was made available for the kids to play mini-stick hockey, which was very convenient considering so many hockey families were staying there at the time. The recreation area also featured a table-tennis table and work-out room, as well as a spacious seating area that made for a good gathering spot for the parents in the evening.

Rooms were nice and appeared recently updated (furnishings and decor appeared brand new, as did the tiling and fixtures in the bathroom). The beds were very comfortable as well. The only thing missing from the room that I would have liked is a bar fridge, just for keeping water or juice cold.

The location is excellent - literally just off the 401 with many restaurants, pizza places, shops, etc. close by. However, despite being so close to the highway and with our room facing that direction, we heard virtually no road noise.

We ate brunch at the hotel and while they offered a decent variety and the service was very good, I thought it was a overpriced.

Dear Valued Guest;

We are pleased to read that your experience at Delta Toronto East exceeded your expectations. Our health club facilities, featuring a salt water pool, 100 foot monster water slide, saunas and hot tub, provide something for everyone to enjoy.

It is wonderful that you appreciated the renovations we have just completed in our guest rooms. We are in the process of placing fridges in some rooms, and it is our goal to be your "Home away from Home".

Every week, Whiteside Terrace Grille features a delectable spread for our Sunday Brunch. There is also the option of our Breakfast Buffet, available 7 days a week. The children's dining program ensures that we accommodate families, permitting children 6 & under to eat for free and children 7 - 12 for half price.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the Delta Toronto East.

Warm Regards,

Stayed here November 30-December 2, 2012. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, but is definitely in need of a refurbishment on the inside. The rooms were just average, had a room with 2 double beds on the 9th floor, it was clean but the furniture was dated and had scuffs and dents, it looked older. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was a great size, very spacious, but in need of a new tub/shower, old with mildew. There were a number of hockey teams staying in the hockey this weekend and I think the kids were playing around with the elevators, needless to say pressed 9 for our floor and dropped us at 10...weird!
No mini fridges in the room, had to request one and they charge an extra $20/night for the fridge.
The pool area was clean, but the chemicals added to the pool burned my nose and eyes, did not stay long in the area. My daughter got a very nasty rash from the over use of chemicals in the pool (smelled of heavy chlorine use).
I would stay here again, but only if I got a really good deal. The place is overpriced for what you get.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience at Delta Toronto East. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the comfort of our Delta Sanctuary beds. The hotel has recently undergone multi million dollar renovations to our guest rooms, public areas, and restaurants. Our pool has been converted to salt water which eliminates the use of chlorine. We are sorry to hear that your daughter had a reaction to the salt water. We will be delighted to hear more in order to investigate opportunities for prevention.

Our family all met here for an overnight stay. This is the 2nd time we have met at this hotel and we certainly will do it again. It is ideal for all ages and handy to shopping for the ladies and great pool facilities for the young.
The children really enjoyed the pools and especially the water slide. The water was warmer than our last stay and this made the pool visits very enjoyable by the younger children who tend to get cold quickly.
Rooms we reserved were all on the same floor, but no adjoining (unfortunately) but I do not think this hotel has adjoining rooms. We certainly managed without adjoining rooms. The rooms overlooked 401 and there was no traffic noise heard in the room to which I was pleasantly surprised.
We used the bar area for supper and the staff were very accommodating with special orders (trying to serve 11 at once) and everything was great. Steve, who is new to the Delta was excellent with his math games at keeping the children busy and amused. He is very personable and enjoyed by all--young and old.

Breakfast buffet was excellent, but not huge. No one could go hungry at this buffet and the service was great.
The front desk staff who assisted us were excellent (especially Sasha).
