Owner description: Canada's majestic castle and Toronto’s premier historic attraction. In 1911, Sir Henry Pellatt engaged noted architect E.J. Lennox to help him realize a lifelong dream, the creation of an Edwardian castle on the top of a hill overlooking Toronto. It took 300 men nearly three years to complete the nearly to 200,000 square foot castle at a cost $3,500,000 (at the time). Situated on 5 acres, Casa Loma was the largest private residence in Canada. Sir Henry Pellatt with his wife Lady Mary enjoyed Casa Loma for less than ten years before financial misfortune forced him to abandon his home. The tour of the castle is self-guided. Visitors can experience the castle at their leisure with the aid of multimedia audio guides.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Food available for purchase, Stairs / elevator, Bathroom facilities

I got married in the conservatory at Casa Loma and it was picture perfect! The grounds of this historic castle are spectacular for pictures and it is one of the more unique places that Toronto has to offer. After the ceremony, guests are welcomed to roam around the castle at their leisure. I've also been to Casa Loma for a concert and it is the most wonderful backdrop to enjoy beautiful music in the evening.

Such an awesome place! The only true castle in North America and an absolutely stunning place. Don't miss the stables, across the street! A definite must for architecture & history buffs!

What a beautiful place.
I visited this as I am a massive film fan and seeing the rooms/ locations for some of my favourite films in the flesh, was fantastic.
Casa Loma offers free interactive audio tours of the property - it is well worth using these as they are insightful and not boring with the interactive feature. There are multiple floors and nooks and crannys within the house and exploring these adds to the fun, especially when you find out their histories/purposes.
As it was nearing Christmas - there were some bell ringers performing and all of the decorations were up - Casa Loma looked stunning. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

It is a historical venue that should be visited when in Toronto.

It's not a castle like you'll find in Europe, but it is certainly the next best thing you'll find without crossing the pond. This place is architecturally cool, makes for a great tour of what was leading edge in Toronto many years ago, and has an excellent history collection from WWI and II eras, among others. Also has some amazing views downtown from the upper floors since you are on the top of a bluff. Make sure you leave yourself a couple hours to go thru it all.
