On a warm sunny day there is nothing better than strolling or cycling around and taking in the history of the island. From Babe Ruth to the old style amusement park, the island has hidden gems

The islands are always a fun place to visit, starting with the short ferry ride across from Toronto. There are many attractions for children including the animal farm. For adults, you can walk, run, bike, stay for dinner or pack a picnic. Frisbee park is free if you are a frisbee fan. Just great to walk among the houses there also and see how the islanders live without cars in a park like setting just minutes away from the Toronto core.

Only after a couple of visits back "home" to Toronto, did I take my native Californian husband on a ferry boat trip to "The Island" at which time he expressed his awe at how I had waited so long to introduce him to this amazing site. There is something to do for all ages- a farm & amusement park for young children, canoe & paddle boat rentals along with my favourite attraction of renting a bike & riding from island to island. The grounds are beautifully coifed & provide picnic space for all while having an incredible view of the Toronto shoreline.

Love going to the island in the summer time! The ferry ride is 15 minutes from downtown Toronto. There is so much to do once you get to the Island. You can take a bike (only allowed on certain ferries) or rent one when you're there. You can take a picnic or buy food when you're there (expensive). At Centre island you can see animals in the small zoo, go on rides (for small children), swim in the lake, wander around and see numerous free small exhibits throughout the park. At Hanlan's point there is a very private but public nude beach(!) Ward's and Algonquin Islands have homes where people live and often have garage sales throughout the summer months. There are restaurants, beaches, walking and biking paths. Too numerous to mention everything. Not good if it's raining..everything is outdoors. Great for a family fun day and can be done for very little money.

A year back we went to Toronto Island Park which also called as Center Isaland or Ville. The park is good for small kids which has plenty of rides, small animal farm, lake and boat rides.I am sure kids will enjoy the park and the park has a picnic area too.
