Take the ferry from Toronto Harbour over to Toronto Island for a great day out. There are three harbours on the island however use the Hanlon's Point station to get to the sandy shore of the lake where you can bathe although there are no facilities here so make sure you take a picnic and drinks. The Central Island harbour is the biggest and busiest and does have cafe and refreshment facilities. It is possible to alight at one station and return from another. Central Island stop is opened the latest in the day but DO check the times of the ferries to be on the safe side. Many folk take bicycles across on the ferry and ride around the islands paths and roads and as the terrain is flat then this is suitable for families with small children. There are toilet/rest areas throughout the island.
An excellent family day out for walking, biking or for picnic. You get a fabulous view of Toronto and the CN Tower on the return journey so don't forget your camera.
