“City? What city?”

Great beaches for swimming. No cars! Great cafe with good music. Wonderful place to watch the fireworks. Feels like the city is a far away place, but with a great skyline if that's your thing.

“Best downtown park”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

If you're staying near the lake, walk to th efoot of Bay Street and take the Ferry over. If you have a larger group, consider taking a water taxi fom York Quay, one block west of Bay. The island is divided into 3 sections, Ward's island, on the east side, has most of the residents. Centre Island has the children's park along with the best family beach on the south side. Hanlon's point has lots of trees and fields and a beach where one can see the Lake and a great place to view the annual Air Show on Labour Day and fireworks displays.

Love going to Toronto Island park! It is another world away from busy downtown Toronto and is only a short and enjoyable ferry ride away.

“Great getaway from the city and only minutes away.”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

We asked our bartender for suggestions on what to do in Toronto and this was the place to be.

When we turned up to get our tickets, the rest of Toronto seemed to be in agreement. Unfortunately this meant queues about 3 metres long right out onto the street, in the boiling hot sun. So far as we could see, there was no reason for the queues not to be moving. There were four booths, and no people on the ferry side.

My husband was checking out the situation and was very fortunate to be offered a couple of tickets from a kind young man who was waiting for friends and had a few extra. So we were on the next boat without having to queue. Whew. It would have been a shame to have missed out on this great attraction.

Many people had mentioned that the waters around the islands were somewhat polluted but it had obviously been cleaned since then. The waters were clear and clean. There's not a lot of shade on the beach but if you move away from the crowds you will find a few places.

The nearest beach for us was the clothing optional beach. It was very entertaining listening to the young men trying to present their female companions with good reasons for going nude. I think there were more people clothed than not, maybe a ratio of 60/40.

If you are a young family, there is a really lovely, huge grassy area with lots of things for the kids to play on.

The only downer was that the ferries stopped running so early. Around 7pm in the middle of summer.Boo.

“Beautiful City Partk”

Spent a lovely afternoon walking the island. Hadn't been there for years. Hard to believe you are ten minutes from downtown. Worth a visit, even if you live here.
