Go down to the waterfront and hop a ferry to the Islands. Complete change of pace from the City, beautifully maintained habitat just minutes away. Great place to walk, unwind, see the small homes and the beaches. It's worth the time to stop in at The Rectory for lunch. Overall, a great experience.

We took the ferry over and didn't stay for more than an hour and a half, but the view from the island (great skyline pic opportunities) and the change of pace to the quiet and relaxed pace of the island is more than worthwhile. Take some photos and enjoy a walk and ferry back if pressed for time.

To get to Toronto Islands, you have to take a ferry from the Harbourfront - $6.50 for a return ticket. It takes only few minutes so don't worry.

It is definitely worth visiting, it is just another world from the busy downtown of Toronto. You can simply walk on the island or you can borrow a bike, do whatever you want there! As for eating opportunities, there is a pizza place but that is pretty much all, I definitely recommend bringing your own picnic, there is a lot of benches where you can sit and eat. Or you can lie in the grass if it's warm :)

Additional tip: Wait on the Island until sunset - you will be rewarded by a beautiful scenery of the whole downtown lightning in the dark! The ferry from the centre island operates until 11pm, take advantage of that if you can.
