“I love pottering here”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

I love coming here for the food. I can find stuff here I can't in other 'specialist' shops in Toronto, such as real mozerella and goose fat. I come here during the summer to by meat for the BBQ's I host, and the meat is always top notch. Cheaper than Longo's, more than Chinatown, but it's much better quality.
As a tourist it is great to come here just to browse and take in the atmosphere.
I would recommend trying the fresh pasta and sauce sample towards the back of the market, top level, on the west side. So yummy I have had to buy it quite a few times!

“Food market year round, antiques on Sunday, farmers on Saturday”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

I've been going to the market for years, especially the Sunday antique market. The antiques are priced a little high, but it IS downtown Toronto, and I've bought a number of things. Regardless, it makes for a fun morning, and a good place to bring a date. The Saturday farmer's market is pretty good, although there are many in the city now. The regular market has a number of independent butcher shops, cheese shops, a couple bakeries, fish shops, bagel place, etc. A good place for quality food although it can be a bit pricey. A great place to support local though, and there's a ton of vendors with food that's ready to eat. Parking can be a bit tough to find, but there's a couple lots around and some metered street parking. For visitors to Toronto, make sure you read the street signs for parking carefully as traffic cops aren't very forgiving in the area.

“Something for everyone- even the most particular!”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

The best fresh produce, fish, homemade (or small batch made) pasta, bread, meats and sausages, cheese from around the world ( including unpasteurized brands) and olives I have never seen before, this place is a foodie's dream. Many vendors have prepared food for sale as well, to eat on the spot or take home. Samples abound. Leave lots of time to check out all the vendors, and enjoy.

“Good market but not the best”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Lots of good fresh food but very expensive. I think the Waterloo market near St. Jacobs is better all around.
