Owner description: Kensington Market is just to the west of Chinatown and is the bohemian heart of Canada, based in a multicultural history it is now a flurry of independent stores, restaurants, bars and shops that bring the world's foods to one tightly knit community. You can find any food on the planet in Kensington Market. It is not an uncommon thing to find a festival in Kensington Market making the bohemian party atmosphere complete. Tip for Kensington, take the transit. Streets are packed and traffic is insane, parking is non-existent.

This is a great area to wander through, mostly for the people! Many cultures mix here as they can find products from their home countries for sale in this market. Many Torontoians also love hanging out here and this is where you can find people who are the 'real deal'.
Smells like fish and cheese and looks like markets in third world countries. Not a classy spot! Shop at Tom's Place for clothes!!!

In a word, weird. However, I must elaborate and say this is one wacky area everyone must visit. There are dozens of shops, food vendors, and stores worth checking out off this beaten path. Not to mention a great place to people watch. I can't compare it to anything I have ever seen. To put it along side of Philadelphia's South Street would be an insult to the Kensington Market area. If you are traveling near here I encourage you to check it out.

I have been in nasty, smelly, gross markets all over the world. The difference between them and Kensington Market is what one expects. When there are so many perfectly acceptable areas around Toronto to visit and enjoy why would one visit this stink hole for anything?

Take a trip through Kensington Market when you need to buy coffee, cheese or fresh produce. Your grocery bill be so much cheaper at Kensington than if you go to many of the grocery chains. You will get much fresher fruits and vegetables. The cheese options are fantastic. You can go simply to do some shopping. Or you can spend a few hours browsing, enjoying lunch on a patio and taking in some sights and incredible people watching. Delicious empanadas, crepes, coffee spots on Augusta. Lovely cheese shop on Baldwin. Fun for locals or tourists. Fine to go solo or to bring the family.

I will never figure out the attraction to this place. It stinks and people are begging all over and sleeping on the sidewalks... Very disapointed Came home and took a shower ......
