We like to travel by train when going to Toronto and the Union Station could be good if it ever gets finished. There is a food court with a number of options and you can travel throughout the downtown underground in bad weather, however the outside currently is a complete mess and you will be wandering through muddy plywood sheets to get to buses, taxis or the Fairmont. Inside there is a sickly smell of Cinnabon mixed with who knows what, but hopefully ventilation changes will clear that up eventually. The lounge for business class travellers is well done though.

The recently revamped Business Lounge is quite nice and appealing to the frequent traveler who seeks some peace ahead of his trip.
The decor is quite pleasant and it is kept clean and in good shape.
Two minuses thought.
1) There is close to nothing in the lounge. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and this is pretty it. No water, cookies or fruits. Even Porter lounge offers more.
2) The Lounge is quite far front the boarding location.

Also but this could be just me, i found the receptionist a little cold and unfriendly.

This is a really cool train station which lads directly into the Air Canada Center. I'd never been to a big city transit station and was impressed by the multitudes of people this one ushered around. It was a very cool thing to see. I recommend it if you're in Toronto, but you'll likely have to go there anyway because there are a lot of train stops and the subway is a good way to get around.

This is a beautiful building! The subway is very easy to use and people were very helpful. You never get a sense that you're lost. It's very clean, safe and a good value for the price.

We arrived from Porter Airlines to Union Station and awaited our train. We took the 11:13 to Whitby and waited in the concourse area. The board said we had to go to Platform 26. We had to go out of the station on the East side.. down the street and go into an entrance where the platforms were listed. We had two large suitcases plus a carry on each and noted that there were 2 flights of stairs to the platform. We walked further down the hallway looking for a sign for an elevator and did not find one! We are in our 60s and a kind young man helped us lug our luggage up the two flights of stairs. Once we were on the platform we went to the handicapped area to board the train and noted that the elevator was located further down the platform. Union Station needs to put up MORE SIGNAGE to show where the elevators are especially at the Bay Street entrance. The new platforms look nice but are not easy to access.
