Just minutes from the core of Canada's largest city, the Beaches is a wonderful neighbourhood and well worth the visit. If eating, browsing or shopping is part of your plans, head to Queen Street and you won't be disappointed. Make your way towards the lake and take in the variety of old, new, small and not so small residential properties which give the area additional character or take a leisurely stroll through Kew Gardens. And then there's the beach itself with its wide expanse of sand, boardwalk and bike/roller-blade path. If it wasn't for the absence of salt-water, you'd swear you were on the ocean. There's even a fenced off portion where one can let one's dog(s) loose so they can go for a swim too. Marvelous place to spend a sunny summer day.

Fire works are always great to begin with in Toronto. The beach is right place if you are there earlier, or else you will be watching it stuck in the traffic or in the street.
If going to have a walk on the beach, morning is the only time you want to be there or else it is really crowded and i am not that social.

I liked taking the streetcar (rocket) and seeing the other neighbourhoods along the way, (Leslieville, Jamestown, etc.) Nice parks where you can sit down and read, go to the shops or listen to jazz groups at the Jazz festival.

While visiting Toronto, we took an afternoon to visit the beautiful beach on Lake Ontario. The streetcar brings you down Queen Street and the last stop is a short walk to the beach. An Irish pub called Murphy's Law was a nice stop afterward for a quick bite to eat and a drink. It was located right at the streetcar stop. The beach is clean and spacious. We passed a pond in the park with two swans and three signets on the way. There was a clean changing area and washroom right before the beach area. An ice cream truck provided cold drinks and icey confections as well. This is definitely a "must do" in the summer time.
