“A Toronto Icon”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

It's a long-known symbol of the city. Worth seeing, but inside is nothing special. The square in front can be quite animated, though, at times.

“Try to go when the 2rooftop deck is open”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

The (free) 27th floor rooftop has a great view - maybe not a view like CN Tower - but this free attraction has its own charms. If you are an architecture buff it is highly worth your time.

“still a wonderful signature building”
Reviewed April 28, 2012

Take a tour of the building if they are being offered. If not, go inside and take a look at the inside. If the weather is nice, buy a drink at the restaurant and sit on the patio.

“Boring without a Guide”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

Unless you were a student of architecture, you're not going to appreciate the modernistic spaces and angles of the new city hall. A guide--booked ahead of time--can not only comment on the building but also the workings of City Council, what buttons to push, hot-button issues, mayoral strategems, committee work, the roof gardens, provincial controls, etc. We had a guided tour, which made it fun, and the guide invited us back after the Easter weekend to witness council in session.
Onsite are a public library, cafeteria, rack of tourist brochures, a nail mural, bored civil servants, floor tiles, and Nathan Phillips Square outdoors with its winter skating and summer festivals.
