“Lets Go To The EX!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

It seems pretty standard for Canadians to visit the EX in the final months of summer. It may simply be tradition, but on top of that, it is hard to find something not to like.

There is everything at the EX! From the rides, to different booths, shops, and games. Everything varies in price, so by no means is it all cheap. But all in all, it is a really fun time, a lot to experience!

“Beautiful buildings, park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

Beautiful old exhibition buildings, in a green setting, by the lake. Location every late-August of the Canadian National Exhibition (old-fashioned fun, including amusement-park rides); Toronto Marlboroughs' hockey in the winter. Various trade shows throughout the year. Unfortunately the city has not developed the parkland and buildings to their potential (see Balboa Park in San Diego for what is possible with some creative imagination and enthusiasm): the site cries out for museums, a tramway, patio restaurants, a skating rink, much more attractive landscaping, etc. Together with Ontario Place right on the lake, to which it is linked by a pedestrian bridge, it could be an amazing all-year attraction for Torontonians as well as for tourists; but the city is musing only about commercial developments.

“I always need more than one day to visit The Ex!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

For me, watching the hypnotist's show is always worth the price of admission, plus you get the Superdogs too. There's lots of other shows to check out as well, plus free concerts at the Bandshell. And who can forget the food? They have a big building that's totally dedicated to just food, so that's why it's called the Food Building. If you don't like anything there, you could always go to the Ribfest, or get some food in the midway.

“The Ex”

It has the most amazing buildings that are transformed every year into a 2 week extravaganza of sticky Canadian fun. It is a must do for everyone, and it is amazing how they have transformed the grounds.

“Everything is at the Ex”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

Exhibition Place is one of the top attractions in Toronto, and for good reason; there’s always something fun and interesting going on here. Their flagship event is the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), held each year at the end of summer. I love going to check out all the special vendors and different shows throughout. There are also tons of carnival games, rides, good food, and often a free concert going on. I highly recommend coming out during the Labour Day long weekend for the Air Show. Always a blast to see the snow birds in action! The only things I can really fault it for is the parking, which is atrociously expensive and difficult to find during most special events. Park elsewhere and take the Go Train out to the Ex if at all possible. Also most food and rides are on the expensive side. Best to grab an all day pass if you plan on doing a lot of that kind of stuff.

However Exhibition Place offers lots of other great events throughout the year besides just the CNE. My favorite is Caribana held in early summer. The fantastic costumes are a must see. And with lots of great steel drum music you can’t go wrong! The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is another great yearly attraction. I’m always amazed at the colossal pumpkins and squash on display. The horse shows held in Ricoh Coliseum are also very well done and entertaining. Lots of trade shows and convention are held on the grounds throughout the year too. Check out the city of Toronto’s website to see the full schedule of upcoming events. Then prepare for a great day out in the city.
