Didn't care for the opera we saw but wanted to experience the facility - simply beautiful. We got rush tickets and it was well worth it to spend a few hours sitting and taking it all in. Recommend a visit.

As an avid opera fan I do not go to the Canadian Opera Company. The staging and costumes are always so dark and dingy. Their production do Aida was one of the worst seen in living memory. However good the singing is you might as well buy the CD and not pay the steep prices. Use your money to see Live from the Met at $20:00 a seat

The amphitheatre is actually a gorgeous 2 story hall where concerts are given during lunch time. I went there last Tuesday with my 5 year old grandson to listen to music composed by John Adams for 2 pianos. The composer himself was there to give an introduction to his work and about the pianists. The acoustics are wonderful and the atmosphere very informal. This concert was part of six series: vocal, piano, jazz, dance, chamber and world music. Coming Thursday there will be opera.....and I hope to be there again. Just wonderful!

I started going to the COC as a high school student when they moved to the brand-new (and absolutely gorgeous) Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

I've gone to an average of 2-3 performances a season since 2007, each under the Opera for a New Age program. I highly recommend it for those under the cutoff age (35 I think). Currently, you can bring a guest of any age. For about $25 or $30, you can buy a ticket in one of a set of seating areas.

The acoustics are very clear from wherever you sit, though the side seating (on rings 3, 4, 5) tend to have slightly awkward viewing angles.

The orchestra is consistently excellent. I've seen productions of varying interest, though it's always a memorable and exciting experience. Nice little gift shop as well if you want to pick up a souvenir or two.

You have to pay extra for a wardrobe. While this is common in north america, I still consider it very unappropriate for opera-house.
Also, guess what? There are no mirrors(!) in the wardrobe downstairs.
As for opera performance – I’m not an expert, hence no comment.
