“New Year's Eve 2014”
Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

Me and my boyfriend decided to come to Toronto to the spend New Year's Eve 2014. I was very disappointed with the hotel it is not was it looks like in the pictures. When we arrived after parking our vehicle none of the parking elevators was working for most of the evening. We originally had reservations for a double room but we ended up going for queen sized room. The room was so cramped up, most of the bed and the dresser seemed really outdated. The view we had was very crappy there was a crane parked right outside the window. Also the way some of the rooms were built you can hear racketing in the hallways. And to top it off they double charged us on parking $30 ($30+$30=$60) when I decided to pay the parking separate from the room, they still charged it on my boyfriends credit card. By far most it was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in Toronto. So please think again before staying here, it's not worth your money and time.

The revamped Chelsea Eaton (formerly Delta Chelsea) has a rather austere lobby, which is not that welcoming, but the price and the location cannot be beat. It's Toronto's largest downtown hotel and on New Year's it was full of festive types. In the bar, Jack de Kyser and Jerome Godbo played the blues and they did a great job ringing in the New Year. Dance floor was packed.

Booked in August 2013 and were given a room. Could not believe the noise coming from the air conditioner sounded like an airport and shower had hair in from previous visitors. We did point this out and they transferred us immediately to a much better room.
My point is why do they put people in there to start with. Surely the cleaning staff have heard the noise from the aircon.
Other than that fairly central to the main shopping district.
Did have restaurant a couple of restaurants to eat so convenient.
They had scaffolding outside so presume they were renovating may have improved.

I stayed here around 4 times, well it's and average hotel to stay in. I'm not saying it's bad not at all it's just average.
First of all it's so big so if it's busy brave yourselves in lines for everything even the elevators. Upon check in you need to know which elevator you will be using during your stay as they have elevators broken down by colors to get you closest to your room as possible.
I'm always in an executive room so that's the only type of room ire seen and it's not bad. What matters most to me is that housekeeping is really clean.
Hotel's location is prime of course as it's right in the heart of downtown.

We got a Groupon deal with this hotel and overall, had a enjoyable stay. Highs included the location, which is walking distance from great shopping at Yonge and Dundas. Visitors to Toronto: this place is centre ice. Also, the lobby and main floor restaurant have been re-done in a modern style with the latter offering fresh choices and made-to-order meals plus the all important espresso bar. The rooms had some attention paid to them with comfy beds and new TV's. The balconies looked scary though, with rust and crumbling concrete in some places (I think they are being redone). The pool has an awesomely fast waterslide but the amenities look a little dated and worn. And the underground parking is tight so watch out for fender scrapes driving in and out if you have a big vehicle. The daily rate of $29 is not bad for this part of the city. If you are watching your dollar and want a great location, pick the Eaton Chelsea.

Dear myounder,

Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay. We are pleased that the location of the hotel as well as the amenities we offered contributed to your experience. We are indeed re-doing the balconies at the hotel and hope to have the project completed by early spring. We are pleased you enjoyed the refreshed look of the lobby and the newly renovated and re-named T|Bar. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Sincerely,

We went back to the Chelsea having stayed several times in the past 15 years for business and leisure trips. The reviews look concerning since the Delta brand was dropped, but the location and the price convinced us to try it for a family Christmas weekend getaway to see Alladin at the Canon Theatre, Leafs at ACC and the Medival Times Dinner Theatre. The hotel was excellent. Great service from the bell desk and housekeeping was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was really busy and while we did have to wait to check-in, the service of the front desk was very nice. Rooms were very quiet (red elevator) and spacious with all the amenities for the princess and family. Surprised but relieved that the bad reviews I read did not materialize in our trip. Tks team Chelsea!

Room Tip: The staff are very friendly especially the bell desk for arranging taxi and limo service in advance.
