“Not much has changed....”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The name change from "Delta" to "Eaton" has done little to help improve this hotel. It is the same old same old. The room was rather dated and smelled of smoke. The only thing that this hotel has going for it is its location.

Dear Malt O,

Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you do not see the changes from Delta to Eaton. Our lobby was completely renovated including the market garden restaurant and the newly renamed T|Bar. We have also just completed renovations to all of our meeting and banquet space and are excited to continue these renovations throughout the building. Over the next year the physical appearance of the hotel will change with our balcony restoration project. We hope that you will return to experience these changes and the many more to come.

Thank you,

This hotel is Old! Room extremely small as well as bathrooms. The only two positives are the kids pool area was nice and Location. Overall the price was right for my family and I. If your going for a romantic weekend please spend the money for a newer hotel.

Dear Ryan E,

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed your overall experience. It is great that the corkscrew water slide was a fun activity for you and your family, and you enjoyed the location of the hotel. Hope to welcome you back in the future.

I stayed at the Eaton Chelsea just last week on August 26th. This was my third and probably last stay at the hotel because of what happened that night. It was about 1am and me and my friend were asleep until we heard loud noises and startling screams from the room next to us. Immediately we called hotel security to report the situation (while we were basically shaking in our pyjamas). We were too scared to go next door to see what was happening but it didn't sound good because there was a lot of crying... A couple minutes later we saw (through our peek-hole) hotel security go to their door. They were outside the room talking with the other guests for about 15 minutes and what happened earlier was an assault by a stranger. After they were done talking with the security/police, they went back to their room and were talking (and also laughing?) very loudly for the next 2 hours at least. It was around 4am when we fell back asleep...

I know situations like this are rare and are not preventable by the hotel. However, employees took it upon themselves to check on the other guests in the rooms nearby. I was shocked that we weren't offered anything to make up for a night of lost sleep that we paid very much for. Instead, we weren't called back to be reassured we were safe. We weren't offered a room switch/upgrade or discount (which look like they are handed out like candy based on these other reviews). But we WERE charged full price for our unpleasant stay.

Dear Taso P,

Thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback on your stay. I do apologize for the disturbance you experienced while you were staying. Our security personnel is available 24/7 to assist in these situations and I am pleased that responded quickly after you called. Security does monitor the hallways and common areas, but we do sometimes rely on other guests to notify us of situations and thank you for doing so in this case. I am sorry to learn that because of this experience you will no longer be staying with the Chelsea

Thank you,

Disappointed immediately at arrival. Hotels parking garage very much limits vehicles to park. Any vehicle over 5.5 feet tall can only be parked off the property or through hotels valet at an extra 10 dollars per night. Slow to check in and when we went to check out there were many empty kiosks at the desk with about 20 people in line to check out with managers just looking at the line rather than stepping in and speeding out the checkout process for guests. Room was small and very dated for the price paid. Not even a bathroom vent fan installed. Will not be back as I have had much better experiences at other local hotels but we thought we'd give the Chelsea a try this time. Not again!

After previously staying in the Yonge-Dundas area last summer, the neighborhood serves as a perfect jump off point for daily activites around Toronto. We arrived during the early afternoon rush hour on a Thursday and the hotel was bustling with guests of all ages and from around the world. A Rolling Stones concert was in town and there were countless conventions going about. We quickly checked in and were on our way. We were immediately greeted by long elevator lines that would haunt us for the rest of the week.

The room was on the 19th floor, with a view facing south towards Dundas Square and the Financial District. The room had a balcony but the door was locked so you couldn't go out. The room was a spacious King with a large comfy bed and a large bathroom. The room wasn't the most stylish but it was relatively modern and clean. There was free Wifi that was fairly reliable and easy to connect.

Many attractions are within walking distance from the location and it's easy to access TTC bus and subway lines from the Eaton Chelsea. There was an elevator repair crew strike during our stay in Ontario so my guess is that is why the elevators were running so slow but when you've had a long day, it's a pain to wait 10 minutes for a packed elevator. Overall, the room was not too expensive (booked on Hotwire) and room comfy and clean. I'd certainly return again but hopefully the elevators have been updated.

Room Tip: Rooms facing South have the best view!

Dear Ben L,

Thank you for taking time to provide a review of your stay. I am pleased that the location of the hotel was a good start off point to your down town activities. I must apologize for the delays and inconveniences caused by the elevator delays and can certainly understand your frustrations. The elevator repaid union was on strike at the time of your stay, but has since gone back to work and things are getting back to normal here. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Toronto.

Impressive on the drive up...but at checkout and onto our room, we became quickly disappointed. Don't plan on using the hotel parking if your vehicle doesn't clear the refi lupus 5'7" of their car port. You'll have to find parking somewhere else around the city! Our room was old, dated and NOT very clean. They must recycle as our hotel shampoo bottle was only 1/4 full and after calling down for a new one...we never got it. Our view was gross! Looking out of our fourth floor room, we had a rooftop littered with cigarette butts and bird crap...very unappealing. The lounge chair in our room was worn and stained from wear, the deapes were stained. On a positive note, our son did love the water slide. However, returning from the pool, having a shower in the room was again disappointing as the tub did not drain right and in no time I was standing in 6 inches of dirty water.

This hotel is too big, stuff are poorly trained, they can not attend to guests' requests. The rooms are small and old. I wanted to make coffee in the morning in the room, the coffee pot has hair and food in it
