Stayed here for one night, and that was enough. The hotel looks nice and is in a very good location. The rooms are decent enough. Parking was convenient, although pricey ($30 per day). While not intending to sound overly negative here, there are few points that this hotel MUST fix before I could ever consider giving it a better rating.
First, the elevators. I have never in my life had to line up in order to get onto a hotel elevator due to the long wait to get up to my room. This hotel has just 4 elevators, and most times it appeared that only 1 or 2 of them were actually operating. This meant that EVERY SINGLE TIME we entered the elevator, we were crammed in there with so many other people that were just as frustrated as we were... and that's IF there was even room to get in. We sometimes had to wait for 2 or 3 elevators to go by before we could find one with enough room for the 2 of us to squeeze in. TIP: Request a room on a lower floor so that you can take the stairs. Seriously. I'm not joking.
Second, the pillows. Hotel pillows are often hit and miss, but the pillows here are definitely a miss. It's a shame too, because the beds are very comfortable. The pillows are small and thin, and pack down within minutes of resting...Stayed here for one night, and that was enough. The hotel looks nice and is in a very good location. Second, the pillows. Hotel pillows are often hit and miss, but the pillows here are definitely a miss. It's a shame too, because the beds are very comfortable. The pillows are small and thin, and pack down within minutes of resting your head on them, so much so that you'd think you're laying on a phone book. This is an easy fix, so I hope they do something about this sometime soon.
Access to Eaton Centre. There is a small hallway that will lead you into the Sears, which is in the process of closing it's doors. I'm not sure what's going to happen in 8 days from now, and whether internal access to the Eaton Centre will be temporarily closed. To be honest, you're better off taking the short walk through Trinity Square to access the mall that way. Much faster, just watch out for all the homeless people that are ever present in this area.
Room noise. There's a lot of it. If your neighbours are having a shower, you'll know about it. If your neighbours are brushing their teeth, you'll know about it. If people are in the hall, you'll know about it. We found that by turning the fan on, we were able to drown out at least a fraction of the noise.
Lobby. I don't know if it's always like that, but the lobby area felt like a bus stop, and was constantly filled with large numbers of people just standing around. I can only assume they were guests or conference attendees, but whatever they were doing, they were in the way. Trying to...More
