The hotel is near lots of shopping and restaurants. We were able to walk to so many places and the only time we even needed to take a cab was to the train station. We used the hop on hop off to get around at first and it was a good way to see the city. Really liked our visit to the Distillery District, the ROM and upscale shopping area around it, and Casa Loma. The Waterfront area was a waste - lots of construction and the free boat tour was awful. Don't miss the chocolate shop at the distillery - best dark chocolate we've ever had. Also recommend Eggspectation for breakfast - it's right by the hotel. The hotel wasn't fancy but was a good value for what we got.

We arrived from a hiking trip with huge rucksacks and a considerable amount of mud on lumpy boots, but the staff loaded rucksacks and rain coats onto their red and gold trolleys and whisked them to the rooms as though we had arrived by limo with monogrammed leather luggage. The chef at breakfast was a delight in both his cooking and, when things were quiet, his tales of moving to Toronto from Korea and starting a new life.
One morning a bag lady, or mad lady, got into the breakfast room and started telling us about the spies following her. The way the staff so politely moved her out, then fed her in the kitchens was impressive. More so was that they approached me quietly first to see if she was someone I knew.
We liked it so much we returned, and will do again (though could afford it only when they have special offers, its not cheap!)

Room Tip: High up = great views

The Hotel was very large but wonderful, clean and the staff were very helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel arranged our Bus tours and were very helpful. It is central to the bus route and central to the museums and with lots of restaurants around, you were spoilt for choice. The rooms were large and clean with everthing you would need, heairdryer, iron even down to shampoo

In a previous review I promised to stay at a Marriott following a positive experience attending a business meeting in one of their facilities. I am no disappointed that I did.

Their staff are excellent! Everyone of them make eye-contact, smile, and offer their assistance. From the door-man to the housekeeping staff and everyone in-between.

We checked-in easily, and quickly. Checkout was just as fast. Valet had the car at the door. Seamless! Well-done!

The facility was very clean, and no complaints regarding the rooms. We had a nice corner view facing north-west. I could see that there was a room below us that had an outdoor patio. It would be on the 14th floor. Ask about that!

I saw an earlier post regarding the elevators, and I wanted to speak to that. Yes, there are only 2 elevators operating. This is due-to a Labour Dispute with the Elevator-Service Union. I'm guessing they were only granted "partial license renewals" or something to that affect. Elevators need to be inspected/certified on a regular basis, for obvious reasons. Suck-it-up and wait. The longest I waited was 3 minutes.

The location is excellent, and offers "it-all" within walking distance.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a patio/balcony.

Stayed here for 2 days in June 2013 for a wedding weekend. It was centrally located in a very busy area in Toronto, which made it a convenient choice and other wedding guests were also staying there. I was underwhelmed for a variety of reasons

Cons
1. Wifi is not free- At this point almost every international hotel I have been to in last few years offers free wifi, so this was a source of irritation. It is free in the lobby, but otherwise not.
2. Rooms are generic- Not enough outlets, no mirror in main room( only the bathroom), we were given a room on the 4th floor right by a daycare center with screaming kids in the playground, and bathroom did not have a fan, so it steamed up quickly. Water temp fluctuated from scalding to lukewarm.
3. Parking- $40 a day, I am sure this is standard in downtown, but still, on top of $200 a night for a room, seemed excessive.
4. cleanliness- Minor complaint- the prior occupant left two cups of coffee outside in the lobby. They were not removed for the 48 hours we stayed at the hotel.

Pros
1. Location. A short walk to malls, shopping, restaurants etc.
2. The gym/pool- decent for a marriot, able to get a workout in of some sorts
3. Concierge- very helpful and informative

Tip- take the torontoairportexpress.com from the airport to the hotel in lieu of paying for a cab. Way cheaper, unless you are on expense account or pressed for time. Also, dont bring a car unless you really need to. Downtown Toronto is super congest and a pain to get around.

for a great breakfast, go to Eggspectations, which is 2 minutes out the back entrance to the hotel. Cheaper and better quality than the hotel food, and great service

This hotel is centrally located, shopping and dining at Eaton's Center is within a few steps; close to City Hall, subway system and Dundas Square. The staff are the most friendly I've ever encountered at a hotel, rooms are spacious, bright, clean and updated. Wi-fi is $15.00/day (too expensive for me).

Room Tip: Depending on what you like, ask for a room facing Bay St. as it should be quieter than a room facing...
