“Great location and rooms!”
Reviewed August 11, 2011

I stayed there for 10 nights in July 2011. Rooms were of good size. Only thing missing was wifi in the rooms which surprisingly was not available, even though I was told it was available when I made the booking. Otherwise could not fault the hotel.

Location was perfect, easy access for everywhere in Downtown. Car Parking was expensive but that is common in all Downtown hotels and it was on the same level as other hotels - around $30 for 24 hours ($40 for Valet which allows you to exit and re-enter parking for no extra charge).

Would definitely stay here again - thanks to everyone who made it enjoyable.

Dear Trip Advisor Member....

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! I'm sorry to hear that there was confusion regarding wi-fi access in the hotel. Currently wi-fi is available in our public areas, meeting space and the Executive Lounge only. We are, however, currently working on the installation process for wireless availabliltiy in all guest rooms which we hope to have available early this Fall. Hopefully upon your next visit, this important service will be available in your room!

Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to see you again soon!

Warm wishes,

We stayed in the Hilton twice in July 2011. We stayed on the executive floor. The rooms were spacious, clean and everything you’d want. The bed was really comfortable.
We arrived earlier than check in time, as our plane arrived early and were let straight into our room, which was great.
The concierge (Dave) was really helpful and better than many that I have dealt with over the years. He was amazingly knowledgeable and personable. The check in staff were also well above average.
The downside of the hotel, was that the bar snacks were just so limited and when we ordered some one night, they were not good, with the fries being inedible.
The other issue for me with the hotel was the swimming pool. The edges were cracked and dirty. The patio area was bland and did not have enough seating. Even though it was 36 degrees, the pool bar was not operating.
These issues would not matter, to everyone, but for me they were disappointing.

Room Tip: Executive rooms if you can afford them always prove greater value for money

Dear Trip Advisor Member...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! I was most pleased to read that you found our Team Members to be a highlight of your experience. We will be sure to pass along your comments to them! With regards to the pool area, this area is slated for complete refurbishment imminently. Unfortunately, the project scope will include a several month closure of this area which we did not wish to undertake during the peak of the summer season. Rest assured, upon your next visit this area will undoubtedly be a highlight of your experience. In the meantime, pool snacks and beverages are served by our Room Service Department. There is a phone located on the pool bar for easy access to menu items and service. I'm sorry to hear that you were not made aware of this feature.

I'm glad to see that you enjoyed the Executive Level experience and completely agree with your traveller tip that this provides the best service and value when staying with us! We hope to see you again soon!

Warm wishes,

I had a very large suite type room at this property and found my stay to be quite pleasant. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated, or at least they have kept up on renovating small parts of the hotel, as they go. The lobby is large and mingles a lounge/restaurant which offer great service and food selections.

It is conveniently located and well priced, at least during my stay which was February. The only complaint I had during my stay was not even about the hotel itself but rather the construction site across the street which began making significant noise about 7am.

This property would be a good selection when traveling to downtown Toronto and is certainly service oriented with many friendly staff.

Nicely located downton just a few vlocks away from the waterfront and Chinatown. luxurious beds and pleasent rooms. Pool and workout room available in fact only thing I found wrong was the cheap ironing board. Ruth Chris steakhouse on the premises with a street full of pubs and restaraunts just a couple of blocks away. Very Pricey but very nice.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We will be sure to advise the brand team of your comments regarding the ironing board which is a standard item throughout North America. As the Hilton brand continues to add additional features to our guest experience, I'm sure they will take this feedback into consideration.

I stayed at the Hilton in Toronto on a recent business trip. The individual rooms are comfortable and a good size, but as a few other reviewers have noted, there are some maintenance and service issues at this hotel, some of which result in a less than favorable experience for business travelers in particular. For example, neither of the two phones in the room worked. While the executive lounge offers free internet access, it does so only during specific hours, and does not have after hours access. The business center services need to be expanded as it was even dificult to have copies made. Additionally, neither the hotel restaurant nor the executive lounge were open until 7am on Saturday. That may be fine if you are traveling on vacation, but can be a problem for business travelers with early weekend meetings. As for service, the staff at the front desk, in the hotel restaurant, and on the executive floor staff seemed rushed throughout the entire stay and were not able to respond to requests for assistance until such requests were repeated.

Hotel is in a fantastic location near to everything. Just a 10 minute walk from Dundas Square! Room was spacious and clean with a very nice view! The only downside was I thought the service wasn't the best! Having stayed in Hilton hotels before in different locations I found this to be my least favourite for service. The door men (except for one man) were not very helpful at all and the reception lady did not say a whole lot when I checked out! Barely got a thanks or a goodbye. There was one lady who worked in the hotels shop in the evening that was very friendly and spoke to us about our trip and always had a smile on her face! Dave was quite helpful also.

Overall this hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious. But compared to other Hilton experiences this did not top the list for service.

My fiance and I stayed here for a Saturday night in July. We booked through Priceline and got a great rate.

The valet was helpful enough to direct us to the underground lot saving us some money. The elevators are undergoing maintenance but that didn't seem to be an issue getting from the garage to the lobby.

Check-in was fast, friendly, and efficient. I inquired about upgrading to a suite upon check-in but none where available. We were however given a king size bed on a higher floor with a view of Nathan Phillips Square.

Upon arrival on the 30th floor, it was unbearably hot in the corridor. Saying the air conditioning wasn't working would be an understatement. It actually seemed as if they had the heat on. It was 30 degrees Celsius outside and honestly seemed cooler than the hallway did.

Our room was nice. The bed was amazing. We both had a great sleep. The TV is your standard 32 inch LCD hotel TV- LG I believe.

Our bathroom needed a bit of work. It seems they have made an attempt to update it, yet there was still an alarming amount of rust and residue around the fixtures and furnishings in the bathroom.

I also cannot wrap my head around how a 4 star hotel such as the Hilton cannot provide a fridge in their room, meanwhile the Holiday Inn or other similar price-points provide them free of charge. I've never understood that, and I never will.

For dinner, we ventured 5 minutes west on Queen to the Korean Grill House. It is an amazing place where you grill your own food and it gives new meaning to the term " all you can eat".

For the more expensive and refine tastes, Ruth's Chris is on the lower level and if you like butter and USDA prime, that is the place for you.

Upon returning to our room, we were hungry. As expected, a sandwich from the room service menu can be had for the mere sum of your first born and then you add on the service fee and tax and tip. For the price of one person getting a sandwich from the hotel, two of us dined from Pizza Pizza for less money.

Ultimately- we got a great rate and had a great sleep but the dangerously hot temperatures in the corridor, the lack of a fridge and the bathroom are what keeps this hotel on the 3.5 side of 4 stars instead of inching up towards that 4.5 mark. I am truly curious to find out what hotel management has to say about the heating issue.

Dear Trip Advisor Member....

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We greatly appreciate your comments.

With regards to the corridor temperature, unfortunately, the Hilton Toronto was constructed during a time when air conditioning was not required in the public areas of the room tower. There is, in fact, no AC in this area, simply a "fresh air" return system that maintains the corridor ventilation. This system works very well for the hotel the majority of the time, however, on exceptionally hot/humid days, it does pose a challenge for us. The guest rooms are all fully air conditioned, and although you did not mention it in your review, I'm assuming that you had no issues in your guest room with this regard. An additional challenge for the corridors on the upper floors are the scenic elevators. These loverly glass enclosures that run the entire height of the building and provide spectacular panoramic views also act as magnifying glasses on very hot sunny days....and as heat rises, the upper floor corridors take the full effect of this design. As mentioned, this structural isssue is only in evidence on very few days in our Canadian calendar and I do apologize if your travel from the elevators to your room were uncomfortable during your visit.

With regards to in-room refrigeration, we do have small refrigerators available upon request for a nominal charge today, however, all Hilton Hotels will have in-room refrigerators as part of the brand standards starting in January 2012. We are always mindful of guest feedback and since this has been an ongoing request item, Hilton has responded to our customers by providing this as a required feature in all rooms. We look forward to their arrival at the end of the year!

Finally, guest rooms on the 30th floor are the remaining phase of guest room renovations that are scheduled to be completed in December of this year. These upper floor rooms will be completely re-designed including an all new bathroom concept that will be more indicative of the rest of the modern contemporary design of the hotel. I'm sure you will find our newly renovated rooms are more to your expecatations and in line with Hilton Hotels brand identity.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share you comments with us! We hope that you will have a chance to find a great "deal" and visit us again in the future!

Warm wishes,

Edwin Frizzell
