“Excellent location beautiful lake view”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

It was my first visit to Ontario. The Westin Castle proved to be a very good hotel. We were given two connecting rooms since we were travelling with our 18 year old son. We had an excellent view of lake ontario.which looks beautiful at all times of day. I would most highly recommend the holtel's top floor restaurant, 360. As the name suggests one gets an excellent view of the lake, the islands across and the little airport runway not far off. The food is great and so is the service. Aim to be given a table by the window. Since this is a revolving restaurant you a sure to get a 360 view of the surroundings. Worth visiting is Central island. A short trip of 20 mins takes you across the lake. On the traffic free island there is a pleasant walk, a fun parlk aimed mainly at the young, but with some attrations that all the family can enjoy. There is a beach, and also a restaurant. Boat leaves just at the back of the hotel.

Room Tip: At this hotel one should aim at having a lake view.

This is definitely a business hotel and the staff kind of looked at my children like they were aliens but other than that we had a great stay. We had a harbour view room and it was beautiful during the day but pitch black at night...we missed seeing the city lights. Great location. We walked to the CN Tower and took the subway a couple of times. It was March so we didn't get to do any of the warm weather activites that must be great at this location.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

We are always happy to welcome all our guests – regardless of age, to our hotel and it saddens me to read that your children did not feel welcome when they arrived. This is something I will definitely share with the team. If you would not mind connecting with me directly, I would like to surprise and delight your little ones.

PS: Summer in the waterfront area is indeed an amazing experience. Should your travels bring you back to this area, we look forward to welcoming you back and share our family friendly activities with you.

Best Regards,

We found CAA had hotel /parking packages on their website and utilized this - what a great saving! When we checked in, our room was upgraded to a water view without asking for it. We were able to walk to the AC centre to watch the hockey game , so no drinking and driving.
Great weekend - we'll be back!

This hotel is huge....and is built for large conventions, but for a tourist it is also adjacent to the Toronto Island Ferry which was nice. It was an easy walk to the Distillery District and its nice restaurants, and an easy walk to the Toronto Metro Transit subway connector which can get you just about anywhere in the downtown area in minutes. The Harbourfront Centre, CN Tower, Union Station, and Rogers Centre all are easy walk.

Our room was nice enough...not especially modern in this age of glass showers and doorknobless doors, but not old either. I often like smaller hotels, but for a large hotel, this was a good choice in Toronto.

Room Tip: South rooms face the lake, northern facing rooms face downtown.

Starwood Fans and others have come to count on the Westin line as a "solid" upper-mid-scale hotel. Westin Toronto Castle fits build. We stayed in an high-floor "junior suite" facing Lake Ontario (due to Starwood Gold upgrade). Nice room with flat screen TV, comfortable Westin heavenly bed and nice view of the Lake and the Island airport (kind of fun watching the small planes and puddle jumpers take off and land-- sometimes in the water!). The drawbacks were the super small (and outdated) bathroom, and the temperature within the hotel (particularly the common areas). According to the front desk, Toronto is experiencing abnormally hot weather for Toronto and their air conditioning system cannot keep up. Not sure if that was "hot air" (no pun intended), but they were apologetic about it. They offered guests free bottled water and popsicles for kids to make up for the balmy stay. We did not eat at the restaurants, so I cannot comment on the food. Parking is super, super pricey, but that is a Toronto thing, not specific to Westin. Expect to pay at least $30 per day, even for self-park. We would definitely stay there again due to convenient location and solid amenities.

i was very impressed with the hotel's commitment to saving the environment. i elected to pass on the housekeeping and received a $5 voucher x 2 (we stayed 3 nights) to spend on food/bev in the hotel. this was a nice treat. my husband and i enjoyed a starbucks on our last morning "on the house", sort of! while i was also pleased that the lobby was not over air-conditioned (i find this a common problem, and unnecessary use of energy), our room was very warm. even though we had the a/c set at 60 degrees, and on constantly, i would guess the temp in our room was about 80. also, very humid, the bedding felt damp (not that we were under any!), and our swim clothes/towels would not dry. i LOVE the westin beds and bedding and was looking forward to cuddling up underneath, and so was disappointed. i did mention to the front desk about this, they sent someone up and said the a/c was working at capacity, they offered to send a fan, but one never appeared. otherwise, the pool/basketball/patio were great and my boys had fun there. free freezies (the big ones!) and water with lime/lemon - also excellent treats! i loved the location. we live in a small rural area in northern ontario and enjoy walking around downtown toronto because there is always something interesting to see. close to many areas of interest. our view included part city/part water. everything was excellent...except the heat! it was in the 90's outside and it would have been nice to cool off in the room. by the way, some reviews comment on housekeeping being pesky, but we weren't bothered at all, and found them to be very pleasant and helpful, when i asked about exchanging our towels and needing an explanation about how the giant starbucks coffee and filter would fit into the tiny cup on the coffemaker. many times, at 4 star hotels everything, everything costs extra. i was amazed at the number of things that were complimentary - in-room coffee/tea, water with lime/lemon in the lobby, $5 vouchers for declining housekeeping, giant freezies, in-room fridge for cooling beverages. also, even though we booked on hotwire, i didn't feel like i was treated with any less respect than an ordinary customer. we would stay again - but we might bring our own fan!
