“Great location, beautiful suite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014

Whatever you do ask for a renovated room or suite. We were checked in to an older room but called and were switched to the 6th floor within 15 minutes. What a difference! This is a beautiful hotel and a great location for getting around, but don't settle for the older rooms.

Room Tip: Make sure and ask for renovated rooms. They are classy and up to date.

We have stayed at the King Edward twice and both times have found it to be a most enjoyable experience. The rooms are comfortable, nicely decorated and a good size. The best are very comfortable, we slept very well. I look forward to staying at the hotel again.

I originally booked the Holiday Inn Express as it was the least expensive one in downtown Toronto. However, when I saw the availability of the King Edward for $50 per night more, I thought I would splurge. I did not realize the interesting history behind the hotel until I read the info in our room.

The room was huge. Two Queen size beds, desk and sitting area was somewhat dwarfed by the size of the room. The room could have used an overhaul. It seems to have lost it’s spark. The carpet was dull and the sitting chairs had no spring left in the seats.

Otherwise, it was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a room overlooking King Street and the traffic noise was not noticeable.

If you are a registered guest member of the Omni Chain, the WiFi and a morning beverage brought to your room at your designated time is complimentary.

WiFi is between 14.95 or 19.95 per day.

The location is excellent. You are walking distance to the St. Lawrence Market and CN Tower. If you want to go further, the King Street Subway Station is a block away.

The hotel staff was very friendly except for the doormen. The four days we were there, coming in and out, the only time the doorman acknowledged us was when were leaving. He thanked us for staying there.

Would I stay here again? Only, if they have a great deal going on.

This Toronto landmark hotel has history that you can step into once you walk into the hotel. The grand entrance and surrounding public areas within the hotel are beautifully decorated and charming. The hotel rooms are spacious and, while not modern in amenities, are still very nice. Much of the King Edward is knowing that you are staying at a classic hotel and knowing what to expect. Occasionally there are deals to be had at the King Eddy, and with a high level of service and class, you won't be disappointed.

We celebrated Valentine's Day with High Tea at the Eddie. A fabulous affair. Great downtown location, service and the variety of tea choices, the tea and scones and clotted cream was reminiscent of England. Afterwards we took some great photos on the second level where there were wedding photos taking place. Definitely bring your camera for that three tiered tray and for shots around the beautiful marble columns. A taste of England! And Italy!

I recently stayed at the king edward hotel and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and the front staff made it very easy to check in. The room we had was large and spotless and the bathroom was enormous with plenty of bath products. It is close to all shopping areas and easy walking to major Toronto sites. We liked it so much we booked another weekend in the near future. Definitely try this landmark hotel.

We were initially given a room without windows. We changed this. Have never heard of a hotel with rooms with no windows. perhaps because it is an older hotel ? The air conditioning unit was rather loud and the room a bit dry (humidity). Still much prefer windows that can open. Bill was not put under our door, so we had to checkout manually, but it was quick, as no others were checking out on the Saturday morning. Other than this, we had an excellent stay... Recommended...
