“Good location to highways and shopping”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

I was recently at this hotel. It is close to main arteries and easy to find. It is across the road from a major shopping centre and subway station. Check-in was easy and despite the line moved quickly. Hotel is quite huge. Lobby was clean. Our room was clean but unfortunately old. There was not much room for two people to pass each other around the beds, etc. Carpet in hallways and room needs updating along with the old wallpaper. Room did not have much natural light so even with the lamps on it always felt dark. Beds were comfortable and clean. Coffee maker in room. Bathroom was very small. You had to go all the way in to be able to shut the door as the door almost touched the toilet when open. Shower/tub had old tile and needs replacing. Heater/A/C unit was noisy but fortunately it was comfortable enough outside that neither mattered for us. We had a late supper after arrival and unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant. Pizza took an hour to arrive and it was not close to being in the top 10. Restaurant is also in an open air atrium of sorts right beside the pool and children's play area so there is constant noise. Plenty of paid parking available. Check out was quick. All in all a good location but I think I will look for a newer hotel next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing back parking lot to avoid any noise from highway or main street in front of ho...

Had a recent stay here. Location is great to all road arteries and the airport.
Fresh lemonade as you enter and nice staff. Reception area very nice, including
comfortable chairs. Dinner and breakfast buffet great, but expensive. The menu in
general is overpriced. However, everything was presented nicely.
Great facilities for meeting rooms. Décor in the restaurant and by the pool nice.
Carpet is older but no noise and the beds and pillows comfortable.

Overall great, but too 180.00 is expensive for what you get and then add parking.

This HI is a favourite of a friend of mine so I thought I would give it a try. I must admit that I was disappointed. This hotel needs an update! I have stayed in newer HI's and found them to be modern with sylish rooms. The HI Yorkdale is old school with plenty of oak panelling (yikes) and outdated colours. My room was small and had wallpaper border! Yes...I said border! There was also a large water stain on the outside wall. The wallpaper was bubbling off the wall. Not very appealing.
The pool, whirlpool, games area is quite nice (great for kids), but again, could do with an update.
I will add that my room faced away from the 401 so it was quiet and I had a decent view of downtown. The proximity to Yorkdale mall is ideal for an afternoon of shopping.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the backside of the hotel. It is quiet and you get a view of the CN Tower.

Room was great, clean! Staff was friendly. The service was a little slow in the restaurant, but the food was great. It was a little odd getting to the hotel parking lot. I had to drive through a car dealership. Only negitive was the towels were like sandpaper.

Room Tip: Inside rooms over looking the restuarant can get a little nosiey

This is my second review of this hotel and I have to admit, I have increasing disappointment as I've stayed there several times now, as well as at other comparable hotels in the region. The price is high compared to what you are receiving. On my last of several visits, the room was fairly joyless with little in the way of amenities... no bar fridge; a depressing view of the rooftop; the TV had white horizontal lines across the picture; PPV movies were expensive (14.99 I believe), and the restaurant is expensive as well. The location is great but I will be trying other hotels in the area in the future. I had intended on holding a conference there, but will go somewhere else.

Great hotel for business and for visiting family. East of central Toronto but also close for using transport in to centre and for driving easy access to 401. Clean rooms - brilliant breakfast and very friendly staff.

This was my third business stay here over past 3 years, and I have found it consistently excellent. While my East wing room was somewhat dated, it was clean, comfortable and convenient. Very good food - breakfast & lunch buffets are good bet, and loved the sushi. Those complaining about prices must be comparing them to budget hotels. You get what you pay for.
Really convenient to one of the best malls in TO - right across the street. There you can also connect to subway, which puts all of TO at your fingertips for $3. Went to Leafs game one night and downtown show another, and was "home" by 10 both nights. Fastest elevators I've ever found in a large hotel - perhaps a function of occupancy, although they told me they were booked solid when I checked in. Maybe # of rooms under reno reduced population, but I did not once wait for an elevator for more than 30 sec either up or down, and usually right there waiting for me in lobby! West wing may be different.
