“Excellent location and great service”
Reviewed August 1, 2010

My wife and I just got back from a 4 day, 3 night trip to Toronto for a quick vacation. We chose to stay at the Cambridge Suites after doing some research online. Most of the feedback we saw was very favorable and I have to say that mine will be too. First off, the hotel is in the absolute best location imaginable. One block from Jonge Street, the main street downtown. It's within waking distance of many places. As a matter of fact, we drove to the hotel from Philly. Parked in the garage and the next time we got in the car was 4 days later when we were leaving Toronto. The room we had was just the right size, with a living room area, nice size bathroom, fridge and microwave and a very nice bed. The floor and hotel was quiet, even though we were up there during Caribana and there were thousands of young, energetic people in Toronto to enjoy the festivities. The services were just great. There was a small fitness center on the top floor with a very nice whirlpool spa that overlooked downtown Toronto. The staff was right on the money when it came to restaurant suggestions and providing directions around town. The only slightly negative comment I have was when we got off the elevator onto our floor, we smelled a faint odor. At first we thought it was some food that someone had left outside their door, but after smelling it each day, we deducted that we must have been on a smoking floor. However, our room wasn't a smoking room and once we closed the door, we didn't smell the odor.

Overall, I would say that it was a great hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Toronto.

Dear PBPhilly,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with other tripadvisor readers. We are very proud of our hotel and I was pleased to read that our efforts were appreciated. I am sorry for the odor you experienced in the corridor. We are 100% non-smoking and our corridors have all been recently renovated. We will be sure to review the area and ensure the cause is rectified.

I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again. If I can ever be of service to you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Sincerely
Tim Ostrem

I wasn't sure this place could be as good as everyone said it was, but i now know it is!
The lobby is very smart and stylish. The staff are just brilliant, from concierge, reception to room service and house keeping. We had a room with a separate sitting room. They brought us a lovely metal crib for our daughter within minutes of asking for it, as well a a high chair to use in our room.
Our bed was really comfortable, the room stylish, though not massive. We ordered room service a lot as we had a wee one with us, and the food was just gorgeous. Real effort had gone into an ambitious menu, which was a welcome change after three weeks of traveling in the US and Canada and only getting burgers, chips and fried chicken on a room service menu! We had scallop risotto, pad thai noodles etc,all beautifully cooked.
They also helped to arrange a baby sitter for us, who was brilliant, and the gym and spa pool were small but very smart and clean with wonderful views.
The breakfast was also gorgeous, fresh and constantly replenished, and the staff very helpful and real perfectionists. The bar was a cool and friendly place for a late night cocktail too.

There were a few problems while we were there (sluggish internet , a small fly problem etc ) but they hotel kept you very informed as to what was going on, which meant nothing ruined our stay.

Definitely book to stay here! Great central location for everything too.

Dear katyqpr,

Thank you for submitting a review. I was pleased to read that you found our team to be “brilliant” and that you enjoyed your time with us. I am sorry you experienced a few deficiencies during your stay and appreciated the opportunity to rectify them.

The fly concern is citywide and only occurs during a few brief periods when humidity is high and the lake turns. If windows are kept closed, it generally does not impact the hotel experience; because most of them are so high, it also does not negatively impact your enjoyment of our great city. Thanks again for the review. Don’t hesitate to let me know if I can ever be of service.

Sincerely,
Tim Ostrem

We stayed in Cambridge Suites during our Toronto week. All reviews that we read before booking, were "suspiciously" good. To our delight, we found out that everything was as they said on the hotel´s own webpages.
The 2-room suite was clean and comfortable, room service & cleaning was immaculate, front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Even in the breakfast rush-hour, the staff kept everything well-stocked despite many people filling their plates at the same time.
Location is super - just blocks away from shopping & sights. We parked in their garage, which is reasonably priced, compared to parking houses. We are surely coming back !!

We recently spent four nights at the Cambridge Suites Hotel. We were very pleased with our suite, both is size and furnishings. The two flat screen TV's were a nice touch.
We were in Toronto as tourists and the location of the hotel could not have been better. It was very centrally located and was less than a block from the subway station. It was also only a short distance to the huge shopping mall, Eaton Centre. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful.

We were very impressed withl the city of Toronto asnd staying at the Cambridge Suites only made our visit that much more memorable

First impression of the hotel upon entrance - lobby a little bit small but check in was pretty fast and easily done.

We were given room 1810 but the A/C wasn't any good and the room (10s), unlike all other rooms on the floor (with the exception of all the (09s) had no corner windows.
It's meant to be a CityScape Suite so part of the package should be a good view, shouldn't it?

We didn't really like the room, but we were on our way out to drop off the car at the airport as we knew we didn't need it anymore being in Downtown Toronto so we asked the staff at the reception if we could have another room and they told us that they will give us a few options to select from upon our return.

There were two.. another corner suite (2009) and another suite, probably like the one in the photographs (2002). At this point I must say that many suites have different layouts - we saw a total of 4 suites in this hotel and 3 of them were different so I'm gonna run through them quickly:

(--09/--10) have a pretty short and wide sitting and desk area and a slightly long room that there's a bed and a desk there. The sink area is ok, though in other suites, it's larger. the bathroom itself is the largest and contains BOTH a shower AND a bath tub. Also the split is a plain white opaque sliding door.

(--02/--05/--06/--07/--08/--12) (We stayed in a --02 in the end) and that had a slightly thinner and longer sitting area enabling the availability of a round table with 4 chairs but the bedroom was slightly smaller that the desk was cancelled and was replaced by a small chair which was quite comfortable. The sink area is larger in these suites and contains a larger wardrobe than that of the (09/10) enabling it to also have wider drawers below the sink.

(--03/--04) The sitting area in these suites are more square, so there's no round table but a desk at the end of the room, which was quite nice. THE DOOR BETWEEN THE SITTING AREA AND THE BEDROOM CONTAINS GLASS, but doesn't actually see the bed as the bedroom is HUGE but the sink area in this suite is just part of the whole bathroom and is tiny, which means the wardrobe is actually in the bedroom, not in the sink area.

All the rooms had another wardrobe right next to their entrance which is quite useful with coats and stuff in the winter.

Yes, do pick the side you prefer depending on your needs, I would.

Being CityScape, we had high-speed in the room. Though, it could sometimes get a little bit slow, it was quite sleek.

We had to use the sofa bed, so we had to move around some of the furniture in the room, I think you can easily live.

The kitchenette was definitely useful. It's, put simply, a small sink with a mini-fridge and a microwave. Also, the 'cant-live-without' coffee maker, so it was quite handy.

The annoying thing was how it took house-keeping a few days to realize that there were actually 3 ppl in the suite so calls for extra towels was almost daily. Even on the last day, they got it wrong -.-

The gym upstairs on the 22nd floor was great. Sitting in the spa and seeing such a view, especially at night - yes that's a wonderful treat.

The front desk staff - great people, knowledgeable of the area and will help you in getting around. The hotel is linked by path to Queen Station so that was wonderful and was used almost daily by us, especially last Saturday when it rained all day and we were trying to get to Eaton Center, which you can get to just by using the path, getting to the station then crossing to the southbound trains side and exiting towards Eaton Center - useful.

The breakfast was good - it's what it says on the internet and more.. complimentary breakfast with a few... cross that out... a LOT of extra add-ons. Toasters are slow, very slow, veeerrrryyyyy sssssllllllooooowwwwww I gave up on using them unless I'm there really really early.

On the whole, it's a nice hotel with some downsides.. still, it's great being so close to it's location on richmond and church streets, not on yonge street, that's an office building, but that's only one building behind so it doesn't make a difference. Besides, the entrances are shared!

Dear kuwaitxyz,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a thorough review of your stay and our suites. Granted, our suites do not have an identical layout, but they are generally the same size with the same services and amenities. The greatest differences exist between Deluxe Suites and Cityscape Suites. While a few of the suites do not have a dressing area, they have more generous bedrooms.

I am glad that you found us to be quite a good hotel and look forward to serving you again. Please let me know the next time you stay with us so we can ensure you are accommodated with your preferred layout.

Sincerely,
Tim Ostrem
