“Great location, great views from room, service eh”
Reviewed August 17, 2010

The hotel was in a great location, walking distance to several places we wanted to visit. Check in was no problem, we got a room with a balcony and great view. The room was simple and unique. On our arrival, the concierge stand was pushing a Bus and Boat Tour (which we did, but I would not recommend - the double decker bus we got on had 2 broken seats on top, though the Boat portion was very nice - I would recommend taking a boat ride in the harbor).

Our room included breakfast, which was the same every day, as expected, no complaints. However, we did have a disturbing incident. After being out on the town wining and dining we rented a movie in our room and fell asleep. At approx 2:30 AM our door was opened and an employee of the hotel dropped a tube of toothpaste on the floor when my husband yelled. We didn't know what was going on. By the time we got someone on the phone at the front desk to report the incident, the person that answered the phone was the same person that had entered our room... he said that we had called down and requested toothpaste. We certainly did not call down for toothpaste as we had enough toothpaste to last us a month. Maybe it was our fault for falling asleep before securely latching the door, but it was still very unsettling that an employee of the hotel would open our door in the middle of the night. We really wanted to like everything about the hotel, but that incident was very nerve wracking!

Other than the 2:30 AM intruder, we did enjoy our stay. It was quiet on our floor. We also enjoyed a few hours at the rooftop pool.

Do go eat at Canoe on the 54th floor of the TD bank building, do eat at Lee, do take a boat ride in the harbor. Do stop by the Renaissance Toronto for a drink in the bar, its a great view of the Rogers Center. If you want to use the internet at any Hyatt hotel, you get free internet during your stay if you become Gold Passport Members of Hyatt, so sign up on-line if you plan on staying at a Hyatt. DO latch your door whenever you are in the room, and put your valuables in the safe!

This hotel certainly looks pretty. Very modern and trendy. However, the comfort just isn't there.

Everything is made to look high end but in fact seems cheap. The rooms are fairly small, there was a leak in our bathroom (leaking from the ceiling all over the floor), the phone doesn't have a button to reach the front desk, nowhere does it tell you where the pool and fitness are located, and only one elevator was working the night we stayed here. We ended up waiting anywhere from 5-20 minutes each time we needed the elevator.

We stayed four nights and have no complaints. We knew in advance that there would be a fee for internet access - kind of a pain, but hey, we were on vacation. Rooms were kept clean, front desk staff was friendly. Great location for exploring downtown, so after walking most of the day, an hour by the pool on the 17th floor was a welcome break. As earlier reviews have mentioned, drawer space and bathroom counter space are lacking. Also would be nice to have a mirror in the room. But these are small things. Overall - thumbs up.

I've read the reviews of this hotel and was not just a bit worried about the place. The criticism about the elevators is very well taken, they have ... ummm ... issues. However, otherwise, this is plain a stunning hotel. The rooms are magnificent, stylish, name it. The room interior design is modern, hip, beautiful, functional compared to the drab interior offer in, say the sheraton or hilton in town. i really dig this place. the location is in the entertainment district. so, if you expect the place to be a graveyard, well, it isn't. i loved the room. i didn't stay long enough to check whether internet access incurs additional charges. if it does, that would be a good reason to stay clear of this hotel. i don't think it had a pool (at least the guest services directory didn't mention one). so if you need to swim (not unreasonable a demand in this price category), this hotel might not be for you. you can check-in comfortably from terminals at the reception, which saves plenty of time. the on-line check-out didn't work, but i could check out without hassles using the room phone. kudos to the helpful staff at the hotel!

This property was a former 2 star Holiday inn. They did lots of renovations but I guess I like Classy rather than modern. The TV was a nice size but the bed was lumpy. The Service was great however! EXCEPT for A man in the cooking department!! While in the lobby, my wife was heading for the bathroom and the cook hit on her after having met both of us. He new she was married and he crossed the line! I would not recomend this property. I would rate this hotel a 2 1/2 star at most. The pool on the roof was basic and small! It is in a good location but near the Eaton Centre was much nicer. The room was small and the parking was costly

We were moved to 3 different rooms because housekeeping wasn't cleaning any of our previous rooms upon check in. We settled on the 3rd room because we were sick of moving the luggage around under one condition: they come up and vacuum, dust, and get the hair our of the sink. They did vacuum and clean the sink but they forgot to dust.

All 3 rooms had stains on the coffee table, dirt and yellow stains on the chairs and one even appeared to have dried blood.

Housekeeping cleaned the room the next day and removed all toilet paper, leaving us none.

In the gift shop, the worker told my petite wife to watch her portions when she was buying a bag of skittles. Saying "Tsk tsk, that is too many grams for you"

We were evacuated from the hotel at 1:30 in the morning becuase of a fire alarm. We were allowed to go back in around 3:00 AM. The staff was not visible during this time and there was mass confusion.

This is no longer a 4 star hotel - the service wouldn't be acceptable at a roadside motel.

However, it did have a great view and the location downtown was fantastic.

This was my first stay at the Hyatt. As always, I booked this room on Priceline, and got it for 70$ a night US.
Most of the times that I have stayed in Toronto, and used either priceline or hotwire, I have stayed at the other great hotels closer to Young St, such as the Hilton, and the Sheraton center. This was my first time staying so far West in The downtown Core, and We loved it.

The hotel itself is hard to miss due to it unique structure. Parking was very easy to find, as you simply follow the signs on the east side of the building. Be prepared to pay over 20$ a night though, but it does allow you full in and out priviliges.

Check in was very quick, and the service was great. The lobby is very modern and clean. Our room was on the 7th floor, and we were very pleased with it. The rooms also follow the lobby, in which the style is very modern. There is a huge flat screen TV build into the curved walls, and the King sized bed is probably THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed we have ever slept in. The room is a 5/5 for sure in my opinion

The location of this Hotel is what made us very happy, as we were only a 5 minute walk to the theatres, and directly across the street from some great unique restaurants and bistros. We also were a 10 minute walk to the Roger's centre, where we got great seats for the game off a scalper.

There is also great shopping one major street up on Queen's Street, which you can follow right up to the eaton center and young street.

The pool is located on the 12 th floor ( I think) and is outdoors. The view from the pool is very nice, and was a ncie break from walking around the city all day. Depending on occupancy, I could see the pool being very busy on hot summer days. For this reason, I was kinda wishing they had something like the Delta Chelsea adult only pool.

We took a look into the gym, and saw that they had great modern equipment, and a beautiful view for those looking to break a sweat.

What else can I say.. Great location, Great service.. Sure people will complain about the parking and such, but what do you expect, you are in downtown Toronto.
