“Poison on a plate”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

I used to live in Toronto in the 80's and it was bad then. I cannot believe it is still open. Maybe because it stay open when everything else shuts up like a clam. I had fish and substituted the chips for poutine. The gravy looked like congealed black coffee and tasted about the same. The fish was straight from the freezer. Unless you are famished at 4am avoid

“Friendly service, good breakfast, and a nice atmosphere”
Reviewed January 14, 2014 via mobile

I went here for breakfast, based on previous reviews, and wasn't disappointed. My waitress, Rosie, was friendly and very much on the ball. I was seated immediately, served quickly, and my coffee cup was refilled pretty much the moment that it became empty. The menu was well laid out, with clearly marked options for people with a larger appetite (there's nothing that I hate more than ordering something when you're absolutely starving, and then finding that the portions are tiny). The food was hot and delicious, as was the coffee. The place is open 24 hours, but you wouldn't know it from how clean the place was at 8am. For someone who just wanted a quick, big breakfast, this place hit the nail on the head.

“Most dissatisfying brunch I had in years”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

We went there on January 12, 2014, for brunch. I ordered omelet with feta/tomatoes/spinach/olives and buckwheat pancakes. Sounds yummy and healthy, right? But it wasn't even in the most coarse approximation. Omelette in general was tasteless, lacking any herbs or other flavors. It wasn't an omelet per se, it was tasteless scrambled eggs, which wrapped the following: ovelsalted black olives, one of them was with a pit, warmed up frozen spinach, pale canned tomatoes missing even a hint of tomato taste, and feta, which possible wasn't bad, but lost among other "food" ingredients. I thought ok, maybe pancakes would raise my opinion of this place. Alas, it was the worst pancakes I've ever had. They tasted like a mix of uncooked flour with some kinda of unhealthy shortener and baking soda, and I couldn't take it even with the syrup. And after that they wanted $11 plus tax, for humiliating my tasting buds in the most explicit way. There are so many better places around, if I only knew...
PS. their WI-FI didn't work either.

“Classic breakfast diner”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Right across the street from the Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto, this is a classic breakfast diner, with a terrific menu, lots of variety and great staff. It's a great alternative if you tire of the breakfast buffet at the hotel.
