“Get away from rush hour!”

Owner description: Known as "The Beach" or "The Beaches," this eastern side of Toronto is a popular tourist spot as it offers a completely different flavor than downtown brings. There are plenty of historic buildings and independent specialty shops, but the main selling point is several kilometers of boardwalk surrounded by a sandy beach.

“Get away from rush hour!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

At Queen and Woodbine you start to enter an area known as the beaches. It has a lovely boardwalk tons of shops that you can meander through. There is an abundance of places to eat and you can spend the day exploring this area. Great for families, couples and even a solo trip to the beach. I took a camera and snapped pictures of birds and the shoreline.

A trip to the 'Beaches' deserves at least a full day to truly experience the "feel of it". Restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, Kew Beach Park, the Boardwalk, the leash free doggie run and piles of park benches to simply sit down on and people watch. An old area and a GOODIE!

“Worth the drive to another beach.”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

The beach is a nice break of scenery from downtown, but if you have a little extra time, go North- or East out of the city. The nicest part of the beach is the board walk. The sand is not sand, it is more like dirt, when you leave the beach your feet are not snady- they are dirty like you've been walking thru a garden in bare feet. Lots of cigarettes buried in the sand (yuck).
I would never swim at this beach- ever. People do, but I personally would not. It is usually packed with people, and not 'relaxing'.
If you want to just go on a walk, then it is fine. But if you are looking for a legit beach escape, I wouldn't go here. Toronto is surrounded by beaches North and East of the city. Worth the extra drive.

“Nice and clean”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

They had live music, barbecue and a beer spot. They also have lifeguards on duty until 6:00pm. It is very clean compared to the most lake beaches.

“Great family day out”
Reviewed August 14, 2012 via mobile

Take towels for safe swimming in clean water and money for the wide choice of cafes and shops.

Three adults and 4 kids spent a lovely day at The Beaches.

Make sure you fit it in to your visit to Toronto.
