“What a view”
Reviewed August 5, 2007

If you are a baseball fan, a visit here is a must. Originally we booked a room here for the great location, but we ended up watching part of a baseball game from our room. We reserved a city view room, but we were upgraded fo a junior suite with a view of the stadium. The room was very nice, but the view of the ballpark was a real novelty. The view is pretty good and you can watch after the game how they close the dome and repair the field. They were working on the pitcher's mound for at least an hour. It was a lot of fun.

I stayed here for a week on business and had an excellent stay.

The hotel staff were helpful and polite.

The rooms were great, ice machine on each floor with ice buckets in room to help yourself.

Lots of choice for breakfast, plus the added bonus of looking over the pitch for the baseball game or watching the cheerleaders warming up for a football game.

Pool was nice and opened early for a swim before going to the office.
Would definately recommend.

Our stay was dual-purpose. To spend time with an old friend and to see the Blue Jays play. At the Renaissance Toronto Hotel Downtown we managed to combine those two activities without straying too far from the hotel.

As a baseball lover, it was an incredible experience to be sitting at breakfast in the hotel restaurant while watching the roof being opened for a Blue Jays game. There is no better way to start a day, than by looking at a professional ball park. With my old friend by my side, our walk was very short to enter the ballpark itself.

The only drawback to two nights at the Renaissance Toronto Hotel Downtown was the parking. It was difficult to locate and involved "taking four lefts out of the hotel driveway and looking for a sign on the right side of the street." But I must say, it was worth it. We didn't move the car for two days

Located inside of Rogers Centre so its great for that. Way overpriced, parking $30/night. Rooms small, train tracks with constant GO train traffic under city view rooms. Overall they charge for their location and charge too much.

I got this hotel for $85 per night from Hotwire, requested a room with a view of the stadium and was really impressed with it. Even though there was no game at the time, the stadium lights were on and my girlfriend and I both enjoyed gazing out into a stadium from our hotel room. Afterall, how many hotels out there can say they have this type of unique view?

The room was clean, the king sized bed was felt bigger than a regular king. Is there a size bigger than a king? We had so much room on the bed!

Location was central to a lot of attractions though we had a car so it didn't really matter. The only place we walked to was CN Tower which was just across the street. Parking was average cost but allowed in/out priviledges.

My dad and I are huge baseball fans, so I took him here for father's day. WE LOVED IT!! The rooms are ok, not bad but not great. A little exspensive at $300+ a night. However, we loved watching batting practice and the opening and closing of the Skydome from our room. You can also watch games from the Hard Rock Cafe downstairs. The rooms are located in the Upperdeck of the outfield so the view isn't spectacular, but where else can you watch a live game from your hotel room? The window also opens and closes so you can here and smell the ballpark. Not sure I would recommend this hotel to someone who is just staying in Toronto cause I don't know what the other rooms look like.

We were a bit fearful before our arrival at the Renaissance, as we had booked (for the first time) through priceline.com and had bid $60 US for a minimum 3 star in downtown Toronto. When I got the Renaissance, I was delighted when I saw the pictures of the hotel on their website, but I was quite convinced that I would be given an absolutely terrible room (since I was paying less than half of the rate offered on Expedia).
When we arrived at the Renaissance, the hotel was every bit as nice as the pictures on the website. The service at the desk was very pleasant. Even better, our mouths fell open when we walked into our room, as they had given us a very large, very nice room. It had a king bed and a seperate sitting area with a couch and 2nd tv. One of the biggest non-suite hotel rooms I have ever seen. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Definitely not their worst room! The view was the only thing not impressive--it overlooked the train tracks. However, we were quite pleased to get a "city-view" and not a view of the field. And we did not hear any noise from the trains.
The location of the hotel was great--close to st. lawrence market, and close to Queen Street, which is my preferred street in Toronto. The best breakfast I have ever had in Toronto I discovered on this trip--Le petit dejeuner restaurant on King St. E near the corner of Jarvis. Absolutely awesome waffles and eggs benedict! And just a couple of blocks from the St. Lawrence market for browsing afterward.
Caveat: The only negative experience we had at this hotel was when we pulled up to the front of the hotel, we were given very bad and incomplete directions from one of the valet parking people as to how to find the self-parking entrance . (Valet parking is $25, self-parking is $17) The entrance to the self-parking is relatively far from the entrance to the hotel but would have been simple to find had he had given us better directions. Because of his crappy directions, we circled around for 10 minutes through very busy city streets before finding it--the sign indicates it is the parking for the Rogers Centre but does not mention the hotel . You think he would have mentioned that! Once you drive in, there is a section devoted to parking for the hotel and an elevator takes you up to the hotel lobby.
