“Great for sailing!”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

Lake Ontario is a wonderful place for boating, especially sailing. The winds don't always cooperate but the beauty of the lake and the shoreline always makes for an enjoyable excursion.

“"Fresh" Water”
Reviewed July 24, 2008

Lake Ontario, is poetically summarized as “like an ocean, but not.”

Heavily polluted, this poor overly abused lake has had some major clean up since the early 90’s, and is both loved and hated by Torontonians; many of whom may still remember the rashes it gave them as children.

Best viewed from a tall building or a beach, it looks largely as you would expect big, wet, and occasionally frozen. Not exactly an attraction, it’s rather a no brainier on any visit. Glimpses are usually free or included with other activities like, going up the CN tower, or visiting Harbour Front Centre or the Island. Suggested viewings also include from a plane where pollution levels are most visually impressive.
