Owner description: Opened in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) showcases art, culture, and nature from around the globe and across the ages. One of North America's most renowned cultural institutions, Canada's largest museum is home to a world-class collection of more than six million objects and specimens, featured in 40 gallery and exhibition spaces. As the country’s preeminent field research institute and an international leader in new and original findings in biodiversity, palaeontology, earth sciences, the visual arts, material culture and archaeology, the ROM plays a vital role in advancing our global understanding of the artistic, cultural and natural world. The Renaissance ROM expansion project (2007) merged the iconic architectural heritage of the original building with the Studio Daniel Libeskind-designed Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. A distinctive new symbol of Toronto for the 21st century, the Crystal marked the beginning of a new era for the ROM as the country's premier cultural and social destination.

One of my favourite places to spend a rainy day is wandering the hallways of the Royal Ontario Museum. With one of the best collections in North America, the ROM never ceases to delight people of all ages, no matter what your interest!

Good museum as museums go, lots of beautiful artifacts. I rated it as average due to the the new wing. Growing up, my FAVORITE part of the museums was the dinosaurs. The old display had dinosuars set infront of rocks, grasses and under trees giving them a life-like appearance. Now they are all in a large room with white floors, walls, and ceilings-very boring and cold. Also not as interesting for young children who are there to learn about these creatures. It feels so sterile and boring-even I had trouble not falling asleep. Come on ROM...you can do better :)

We love museums. This is an unusually shaped museum, but that doesn't add to the experience. The displays are sort of haphazard, mixing ice age mammals with dinosaurs - why do museums do that?! Also, there is no flow from one exhibit to the next. First you have dinosaur eggs, then a mastodon, etc. The Egyptian area was pretty well done. I wouldn't visit again.

The ROM just recently reduced their entrance prices from 25 to $15 for regular admission, and on Fridays after 4:30 p.m. it's $9. Currently there is a Maya Civilization exhibition.
