We weren't sure what we were getting into, booking this hotel as it was one of the cheapest places to stay in Toronto Downtown. But it was much better than expected, with no unexpected downsides.
Location. You cannot beat its location. Right in the heart of the town, easy walk to restaurants, attractions, public transport etc. We walked basically everywhere except the zoo (miles away), but all the transportation was nearby.
Price. It's cheap. What more is there to say?
Clean. We booked a shared bathroom/no ensuite and this was always clean. There is an additional WC in the hall so you rarely had to wait for a toilet. Shower waits weren't generally an issue either.
Free breakfast. Never used this, but there is apparently basic food for brekky.
Cons- Noise. It is a jazz bar but oddly we never heard any bar/music noise. The street noise started early on weekdays, however, and went on late at night on weekends. This is because the rooms are on the 2nd/3rd floors so quite close to the street. We also had the window open to keep air circulating (the aircon was relatively loud but worked really well.More
