Owner description: Located within walking distance of the CN Tower and Rogers Center, Steam Whistle Brewing occupies Bays 1-14 within the old John Street Roundhouse building, a designated National Historic Site that was previously home to the Canadian Pacific Railway steam locomotive repair facility. Thousands of visitors visit this brewery every year to attend one of the on-site events or take a tour of how the company brews its own Pilsner.

Go to Steam Whistle Pilsner brewery for a delightfully fun tour of the brewery and historic building. Building used to be the old train repair station. We learned that Pilsner is
Czechoslovakian and this brewery is the second "greenest" environmentally brewery in North America. All their discards are shipped to farms for other uses. The factory is amazing to see and owned by 3 guys who lost their jobs when a competitor bought the company they previously worked for. Even the bottles have 3fg on the bottom (3 fired guys). On the tour, they ply you with as much beer as you want and the employees get beer at the end of the day along with 24 bottles along with each pay check. So everyone is always happy there. For a fun time, this is the place. Some evenings, there are parties and entertainment.

I went along to the brewery tour with the HI Hostel (where you get a discounted entry ) and we had great fun having a tour of the factory , sampling the steam whistle beer and meeting steam whistle brewery staff . I must admit the tour is quite short but you do get to sample the beer quite a few times and it made me want to work for them as all the staff get to take a crate of beer home every week!!

This tour was fun. Jays game pre warm up place. We went early and the bar portion was hopping, great music and freindly service. Reasonable price for tour, $25. For wife and I. They have diffrent options. Unfortunately I can not remember the name of out tour guide, Irish I belive. He was great and don't be afraid to tip if you enjoyed it. I recommend this but be carful, beer goes down quick and can make a long day.

This is great value from start to finish. We booked 2 Souvenir Tours for $10 each and for that we got a bottle of Steam Whistle Pilsner each, a glass and a bottle opener. Our tour guide (Emily I think) was great, really knowledgeable and friendly. The tour lasts approx. 30 mins and she explained about the history and brewing. If you don't book a tour you can go in and have a free sample.

Quaint brewing house amid the locomotives and roundhouse yard. Very friendly staff, free sample and cool logo. The beer tastes great, unfortunately only one type of beer made, but it's delicious. Can't wait to do the tour, time permitting.
