A chef friend of mine picked Kojin as a night out while we ere in TO - great surprise and great night. I'll recap the night.

Starters
We did two flat breads and another appetizer.

- Ham & wild cherry flat bread - delicious. The cherries were great - and the hot sauce was awesome.
- Brie with beef drippings - great, and having the cherries from the other flat bread to mix in was great.
- Roasted beet salad - good flavour, and the fried chick peas were a great texture crunch
* The flat breads were not what we expected (pizzas) but were a delicious surprise! The scissors to cut them up were a great touch.

Mains

- Boneless ribeye - probably our least favourite of the meal. It was more the temperature, but the butter and peppers were a great combo.
- Grilled trout - delicious and crispy. Also a delicious sauce poured over top.

Sides

- Grilled carrots - perfect texture and temperature.
- Crispy Brussels Sprouts - unique flavour and tasted great

Dessert

- I honestly don't remember what it was called, but it was an ice cream cake with a delicious crispy crust, car male and peanut butter maybe on the bottom. Chocolate ganache? Perfect pairing with an espresso!

Service

Our server was great - she was very accommodating, chatty, and had a ton of knowledge on the menu and what we were ordering. Good recommendations on what to select and how the chef prepared everything.

Overall our entire meal was great - and would come back. This was optimal as a sharing dinner - great to get a little bite of everything.

This was probably our best dining experience during our Toronto stay.
Try the cornbread flatbreads for a different twist on the appetizer side.
The mains and sides were all delicious but the coup de gras was a surprise presentation of a duck soup. They seemed concerned that our meal was taking a little extra time but we were enjoying ourselves so we didn’t notice. The soup was rendered down from the duck carcass with hints of citrus and the spice of Kim chi, sort of like a hot and sour soup but not as heavy. As my many followers know (zero and counting) I rarely give an “excellent” review but gladly make this the exception.

Everything was perfect except the service. We suggest ordering a bunch of different things and sharing. Although we were disappointed with the service, we will definitely be back and don't think our experience was the norm for this place. Give it a try!

Connected to Shangri-La hotel. Stunningly beautiful with 3 floors. We ate at Kojin on the 3rd floor. They must have spent a tonne on renos as it looks magnificent. High ceilings.

Food is casual and delicious. We had a great waitress in Sophia and the sommelier Brent is very friendly, knowledgeable and unpretentious. Nick the manager is also great. All in all a great dining experience.

On the 3rd Floor of the Shangri-La a relatively new venue for very special occasions. Excellent service re wine selection to pair with your choices. Be prepared to pay for the premium steaks on offer which will be cooked to perfection.
We added Brussel sprouts and a variety of mushrooms as sides.

The setting is magical to go along with the mouth watering food. Find that special occasion, make reservations, and Enjoy!
