The restaurant is casual chic: modern Danish furnishings are paired with acrylic tabletops in a multitude of vibrant colours. Etched glass and vertical-grain Douglas fir also accent the space. She has created a new restaurant menu featuring contemporary comfort cuisine and showcasing the best of Ontario’s agricultural products.

“A great place to eat when visiting the AGO”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

We enjoyed our recent meal at Frank, and though the food wasn't spectacular, it was consistently good. With plans for later, we were in for a 5:30 p.m. meal. We shared an appetizer of shaved asparagus, cucumber and king oyster mushrooms ( $14) and it was quite tasty. Without prompting, the waiter supplied extra dishes and cutlery. My wife enjoyed her large pre-boned trout fillet on a rice cake ($25), and I ordered the fried chicken ( a note on the earlier posting about $100 chicken--my order contained two leg quarters, or roughly half the chicken, with the bone removed from the thigh, but not the leg. i don't know if this reflects a change in the portion size.) My chicken and accompaniments were good, but not spectacular. The shared blueberry tart ($10) and the coffee were excellent. Perhaps because of our early dining time, we were seated on the main floor near the windows and service was excellent, even to providing the AGO members' discount without prompting.

“Nice brunch”

Great service and the food came quickly and tasted good. The ingredients seemed to be of the high quality which you expect at the higher price. The decor is a bit boring though.

“Consistently Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

I love this restaurant. Executive chef Anne Yarymowich has been with the Art Gallery of Ontario for a number of years and the calibre of the food has never wavered. The menu offers interesting options with the Prix Fixe menu inspired by the main exhibition on show. Currently, the Picasso show is reflected in a Spanish-inspired menu including a sublime watermelon and fig salad with queso fresco.

A great destination whether you are visiting the gallery or simply require a great restaurant in the downtown core.

“Mixed review”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

May be the best pancakes we've EVER eaten.. (even better than the Original Pancake House in Chicago ) mixed with good coffee..

- biscuits did not measure up
- steak was ordered med rare.. definitely rare (maybe blue) moo .. french fries a wee bit over salted..
- service was spectacular until - we finished and waited 15 min to have our plates cleared while 3 staff passed us...

We had a great time..

“Nice place to lunch, awful place to sit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

Had lunch with some friends after the Picasso exhibit. the lunch was nice. Seasonally fresh foods, well prepared, sevings a bit on the small side, but acceptable.

The chairs however were aweful. My husband and our friend are 6 foot 4+, with athletic builds. And we ladies have hips but are not "plus sized". It was really difficult to sit thriough a meal in these chairs. The arm rests are so low, they provide no support to your arms or shoulders. My husband and his 6 foot friend said they couldn't have survived a dinner there....
