Four shares a kitchen with its upstairs cousin, Far Niente, and it shows. The dishes are fresh, healthy and not too big. The corn and crab cake is a perfect side dish or app and has tons of sweet crab meat served on top of an avocado puree with a very large helping of the best jicama salad I have ever had. There might have been mango too but the jicama and the dressing shine on this.
The soba noodles with shrimp are tasty, light and healthy but filling enough to get you through the afternoon. Don't bother with the shrimp dumplings. They are doughy and the sauce they are in is too sweet. Plus they arrived cold.
Which brings me to the service. It's lousy. At least until they want you to pay. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter to visit our table (the place was far from full) and another ten to get drinks. Ten minutes after that we placed our order. The food came quickly and the waiter disappeared. Once the cheque came, however, he stopped every two minutes to peer inside the little folder for a credit card. Once he delivered the credit card machine, POOOF! gone again.
The space is quite lovely, especially for a mall dungeon. Dark with lots of glass and shiny things. But the music was unnecessarily loud for a weekday lunch in the business district. Folks, people like to talk at lunch.
